Delivery times?

I guess we will all be rewarded for waiting this long with higher prices. Translated clip from a Czech article 2 days ago:

As car manufacturers and their suppliers do not have the necessary parts and components, Russian aggression in Ukraine is gradually beginning to affect Czech customers waiting for new cars. According to Martin Feller, sales director at Louda Auto, the carmakers are announcing a further extension of the delivery times of new cars. "Even those that have been ordered and entered in production for some time. In addition, the number of models with a current delivery time exceeding 12 months is constantly increasing, ”says Feller.

David Prostý, director of fleet sales at the Havex dealership, also confirms that the situation is likely to worsen. It is almost certain that the price of cars will jump again. According to Prostý, cars that are already in production could also become more expensive, and they will be delivered to customers at a different price than when they ordered them.

"If importers decide to take such a step, it is a one-sided step, there is no room for discussion. Customers react displeased, but they can choose whether to accept the price increase or not take the vehicle, "says Prostý. But that puts customers in a difficult position. If they refused to raise prices, they would move to the end of the line while waiting for a new car, and if they saw the car at all in a few months, there was a real risk that they would pay even more for it.

According to Prostý, the most problematic cars are the ones with the highest equipment, such as the Superb or Kodiaq from Škoda Auto. Octavia is still one of the unfortunate record holders in the waiting period. The company will soon be joined by the aforementioned electric Enyaq, for which most car showrooms are now accepting orders for the third quarter of the year.q

This is a total rip off, one of the reasons we are waiting patiently is the fact that we are getting our car at the agreed price. For Octy the prices went up for a 3rd time in Feb 22 since my order in August 21 for a total of cca 1500 for my spec. I did look for used cars (although I swore I wouldn’t buy another one), but why spend 28k for it if I get a new one for that price… I have to check the contract. 🤬

After the dealer giving me the bad news that production is delayed indefinitely and my order would probably not be delivered within the next 3-4 months or even more, I decided to look around for other options and see what few models at other brands are on stock.

I have waited 9 months without getting any info except "the factory confirmed the order". Yes I understand component shortages, but communication from the factory has been extremely poor. And now when there is even a deeper crisis, the strategy is to shrug and just say "we don't know anything".

To anyone looking to buy a new Octavia, consider that you need to be extremely lucky to get your order within a couple of months. By the looks of it right now, around one year-one year and a half waiting time is a pretty good estimate...that is if shortages don't get even worse.

Darn, sorry to hear that. What spec did you order, anything special?

Yea, it is getting worse even for other models. Someone said he ordered Kodiaq in May 21, expected delivery Sep 22. You can only imagine what this means for Octavia. Currently it looks like noone is getting their cars anytime soon. 😞

I ordered 1.5TSI, manual gearbox, Style trim with an options package offered by the dealer which included a things such as matrix headlights, reverse camera, LED stop lights and such. The only things I added extra were heated steering wheel and backseat window blinds.

So I think it was a pretty normal spec, nothing out of the ordinary. However, I ordered it in June last year and I noticed several users here reporting long delays for their orders placed during that period.

I ordered mine in August. I heard reverse cameras were (are?) an issue.

a bit of a surprise tonight my weekly update says  my delivery update has been pushed back by  just  4 days.instead of normal months by months then onto week by week push backs. is this positive news? it is the first time i have had a only 4 day push back.is there light t the end of the tunnel ?if so it will make it just  shy of 48 weeks since ordering.fingers crossed.

That might be a good sign 🙂👍

I honestly believe that we will get the cars soon(at least people whose cars are already in production). This guy who told me that they have 3months to deliver after unfinished production works for importer so i believe him 🙂

Produced & unfinished cars sat bunkered for many months last year & unfinished is not ready to put in transit and import to any country.

They still are sitting for well over 3 months.

Once in a country cars that are meeting their Certification & Type Approval so complete and safe as far as the countries requirements can sit long enough before getting to a Dealership and getting a PDI has happened a year ago with Lock Down in the UK where dealers could not accept cars.

In normal times in the UK a dealer might have to have a  10 weeks to get a new car first registered and out to a customer and the money coming in for that car.

They might have a quarter to have a car sitting in a showroom before needing to get that first registered and on sale, or into their Dealership fleet as a demonstrator or courtesy car / management perk for a while.

Don’t know anymore to be honest…I ordered quite a top price kamiq with a lot of extras and with 1.5 dsg engine…and still nothing. I assume they have problem with side assist package that I ordered and electric boot opening…because those two extras are not on the configuration list anymore since november last year. Dealer also kinda informed me they also are short on DSG parts…so probably manuals can be delivered faster…but I’m not stepping down.

Somehow I have the feeling my order will be cancelled 🤷🏻‍♂️ Just assuming…

Yes, i remember them saying that they can have up to 50k cars parked somewhere...but that was last year.

He said exactly this: When the car is in production and gets the VIN number it has to be finished in 3months top due to some rule they have at Škoda. I don't know if this is the new thing but i don't know why would he lie. I wasn't even asking him for my car or anything about my order 😁

Otherwise the delivery here takes only a few days, cause we are not far from the factory(and the dealer can get the car in a few minutes /hours when it reaches country) . Registration is done at the dealer, in a few minutes. I never meet a person that waited longer than a 2 weeks(mostly few days) to get their car once in a country 😊

DSG and side assist here as well, I guess we’re in for a late start…

@SenaidReally who you meet and in what country you are talking about in which countries is only you that knows.

As to Skoda Dealership staff or Customer Services,

many do not lie they just repeat what they were told by someone that was told something and that does not mean the first one really knows.

As with a person at a Service Desk who gets on job training from someone trained poorly in the past from someone that gets on the job training.

Some of the car salespeople were maybe fast food servers a few weeks previously or even selling sports clothes and shoes.

I was told that VIN number is assigned in the 7th, last stage of production, and 8th being the transport. I think someone posted these stages in the thread, but don’t have time to scroll through all the pages again 😉

So before reaching that stage it can stop due lack of parts. So even though mine in supposedly in production since this week, I won’t believe it until it arrives at the dealers parking lot.

@roottoot the country is written right under my badge :), and the guy is working for the main importer in the country(for quite some amount of time).

I completley agree on that. A lot their workers(dealership ones) are just repeating things that they heard from others or been told to say.

@Ajdolinwe are in the same situation. Hope we get some positive news soon 😊

@Senaid I know, when on a phone you will not see that.

But you typed about 2 weeks, a few days, 'to get their car once in a country'.

The UK is no longer in the EU and the lockdowns were very different over the past 2 years, and transportation for a period in time.

Cars were sitting waiting on transporters, PDI's etc.     UK 2 registrations a year.  Dealers desperate to get cars ready and registered before end of month now, and and of quarter.  Then cars for the 1st April that can not leave until then.     Last year not registering too many high emission cars as the UK is in its own pool now different from the EU.  They achieved that.

Yes, once in a country it takes very small amount of time to get it at the dealer.

I said 2 weeks max(1 person i know waited 12 days and even that because of some stupid error). Usually it is few days because Slovenia is a small country,  and everything is so close. :D

I am not really sure how long does it take to get to Slovenia, but can`t be more than a week or two.

UK is of course a different story, i believe that you get different dates there :)

Hi everybody,

long time follower of this thread here.

I am currently waiting for my Octavia vRS iV, ordered early October 2021 in Germany. The car is part of a bigger order of 4 very similar cars my colleagues and i ordered. All vRS iV, bit different options and colours.

Estimated delivery was 6 months, exactly with the end of lease on my Golf (Company car).

I didn't expect that to work out, so it was no real surprise when the dealer pushed delivery to June/July in December.

Since i an going from company car to company car from the same everything VAG dealer, i can just use the Golf as long as necessary.

So not a huge issue for me, but waiting for a pretty tricked-out Octavia while driving manual 1.6 TDI with pretty basic options is kind of annoying.

Yesterday i brought the Golf to the dealer for inspection and tire change.

Of course i asked about delivery of the Octavia.

The service manager was adamant the new car will arrive in late October. That would be close to 13 months, which is of course horrible, but considering what you can read here, not too bad.

Still, i really don't buy that i will get the car this year. It is a big dealer, moving a lot of cars, but i'd be surprised if they have better info than everybody else.

TL;DR:

Octavia vRS iV, ordered Oct. 2021 in Germany. Delivery is scheduled late October/early November 2022.

I see quite a few people mentioning October/November 2022 for estimated delivery time. I wonder it is the new "Magic number" by Skoda since it's kind of far enough in the future :) Or they really expect to clear their backlog by that time.

Here as well + reverse cam. But my coworker got all that in less than 5 months (- reverse camera).

Gosh, he’s darn lucky. Did you ask him now what’s his take on the car itself?

I don't know if it is luck or just the fact he ordered 2 months later for a higher price. There must be a reason for Skoda reporting this: "Mladá Boleslav, 22 March 2022 – ŠKODA AUTO increased its earnings in the past fiscal year compared to 2020 despite the pandemic and the shortage of semiconductors." Us getting our cars is their last priority, that I am sure of. Keep in mind I know of one more case, where our partner got the car in roughly the same time frame as my coworker and it is an Octavia PHEV.

He is satisfied, no problems so far.

Remember someone could also get a car quicker if someone else cancels an order which is closer to delivery and just happens to be the same spec as what someone else wants - more likely with vehicles without loads of options of course but there aren’t that many colours or options so it’s reasonably likely.

I don't know, maybe, but this car had many options and it was plain white (company policy). So I doubt this a little bit and if someone canceled the order before being built, why not put all these options to an order that is waiting longer. I know many other manufacturers have similar problems, but Skoda is the only one who failed this miserably. I was optimistic once, but then semiconductur crisis got worse, the fire happened, now war and chip crisis is getting worse, not better. I just wanted to drive a new car before WW3 and it is not looking good. So **** Skoda.
