  • Well 13.5 months waiting and I finally collected my Octy Estate vRS yesterday. I couldn't be happier  👍😀

  • After 13 months waiting my SEL iV Plug in Hybrid arrived.    All seems good with it so far, just to understand some of the infotainment features!

  • Just took delivery of mine but had to cancel some of the optional extras

Were all the dealers so optimistic in March 2021?

and may i add not holding my breath.in any case good luck in your wait for the car.

Thanks! But my expectations are not that high... I'm actually mentally prepared to receive it next year 😒
As a proof of that state of mind, I just payed ~1.000E yesterday for a major servicing of my old Megane which is my daily driver. It included new timing belt kit, complete accessory belt kit, water pump and fresh fluids, new front shock absorbers and the associated bearings, plus the normal maintenance (oil + all filters). The cost was about half the car value 🤔, but it's worth it - the car is in great shape, and I still love it. It looks like it will still be my ride for this year's vacation (or vacations if we include next winter).
Coming back to the Octy: I'm now 8 months after the order and still have no news about it's production. So let me congratulate you: at least your car exists (even though incomplete yet)! Mine is still virtual 👻

If it's any consolation (I know it's not), we were quoted a delivery time of 8-9 months for Octavia combi Style 2.0 TDI 150HP mid-august 2021, for DSG it was 1-2 months extra.

So, I think your dealer gave you the wrong delivery time to get you to order and maybe you still have a chance of getting the car this year.

we expected delivery mid april - mid may and it has been prolonged to mid june because of the fire in the factory, I REALLY hope they won't prolong it further as we have had to sell our car in the meantime and now are without one...

Which country is it that you have you ordered your car in?

Hi, that’s the same build as mine, was told 5-7 months when ordered beginning of August 21. Car has a VIN number but waiting for some parts (supposedly door panels), due for delivery week 20. Haven’t chased my dealer this week due holidays, next week we also have some school holidays and ppl will be away, but will check again after 04/05.

got my weekly update about delivery.pushed back to 20 may 2022.if i do get on that date it will make it 1 day shy of 52 weeks[ 1 year]

Got paperwork finalised on the car today. Dealer still telling me 40+ weeks for the SEL, 52+ weeks for the VRS

keep you all posted!

That + is probably more significant than the number

40+ could be 50, 60, 70……

What you need is a big number with a negative, (will be a happy surprise sometime before that date), not an indefinite forward date.

I ordered mine august, no build date but an estimate delivery of early september

Which years? August 2021 and September 2022 (or September 2023?).

🤞🤞🤞

My dealer called on Wednesday last week, still no movement. Been sat built at the factory since wk 7 (mid Feb) waiting on some part. No idea what though.

Was told best to just sit and wait rather than trying to secure another stock model if one comes available. He said that they don't usually start building unless they know that the car can be finished and shipped within three months. Which would put me at middle of May 22. How true that is though I don't know...

Similar story here... not sure about the build date(i didn`t ask) but somewhere in the begining of the march.

I got the same info from the importer about the 3 month period. They said that the car must be finished in 3 months` time after getting VIN number in the system!

We will see on your example if the story is true :D

@PhatEd  Welcome to the forum.

Hopefully you will not have much of a wait.

The 'do not start building unless they know'  is just Salesperson spin.

'Usually' must be a recent thing as they had cars bunkered for many months last year waiting for semiconductors, and the 'cars waiting to be finished' got towards 55,000 before they were ready to stop productions.

So what 'usually' is the case pre Covid was they would say 16 weeks as a max wait.   VW cancelled cars ordered a few years back if the waiting list was greater than 6 months.

Now there are no 'Usually's'  and it is in the lap of someone but not 'St Christopher'.

Hi roottoot

Thanks for the info. I think it's a case of how long is a piece of string at the moment isn't it. No one including the dealers seem to have a clue what is going on, which is infuriating when you get no info and told to sit and wait for X amount of time!

Seriously considering whether to keep the order or not at the moment.

yes i am in the same boat as you,car built awaiting parts but it is only a slight delay by them.so 2 months later and no sign of it.just glad i an hanging by my xxxx for that long

I drove my friends Octavia (hybrid) today. He just got it. It drives great and he has no problems so far. I ordered a diesel and honestly I won't miss the electric part. He waited less than 2 months. The dealer said he has 2 cars that are already in production (diesel and PHEV) and he chose the hybrid.

Me? 8 months in, no info. :)

How did you find the electric drive etc? Ive ordered one hoping I can use it for a cheap commute but the flexibility of distance when I need

It was great for parking and also driving in the city. I later switched from electric to hybrid for acceleration, because it is not good on electric only.

2 examples I can give you for parts on these cars - I had a pigeon kill a matrix led headlight quite early on, that took them 3 weeks to produce a part, with them reusing the control units from the original light.

2 months ago, my car spent a week in the workshop to look at a book of faults, they determined the fix for a few of them was to replace the steering wheel entirely, i was quoted 7 working days for a replacement to arrive, i'm now up and above 40 working days as of today, still no replacement steering wheel.

If they have halted your car for any reason, its not getting dealt with any time soon.
