Delivery times?

Yes, but I don’t think that information is correct. I mean, Octavia iV is the only model with that delivery time. Any other VAG car is expected to be delivered in 2022. They manufacture more phev cars not only Octavia iV like Superb iV that are 9 months, so here is something wrong.

9 or 10 months isn't a big difference. They make many more Octavia's so it makes sense that those components would experience more of a block.

  • Well 13.5 months waiting and I finally collected my Octy Estate vRS yesterday. I couldn't be happier  👍😀

  • After 13 months waiting my SEL iV Plug in Hybrid arrived.    All seems good with it so far, just to understand some of the infotainment features!

  • Just took delivery of mine but had to cancel some of the optional extras

Those of us who had NO news so far about their car's production week, should now add several more months to those 10-19 months that you mention...

I wonder if at least some of us will start receiving calls/emails from the dealer informing about the waiting time extension... Or will they just let us wait in the dark?

I just read this...  The bad news are always about Skoda, nothing else, haha... I am waiting for 6 months and have zero information, I am really sick and tired of waiting. Looks like it's gonna be another 4 months (fingers crossed)...

The biggest problem is the lack of information.  If when ordered the dealer would say the wait period will be a year - I would not order that car. That's a fact. But he said 3 months or the most 6 months...and when that time passed there were never any new information. So now we are all in the dark - I'm waiting 11 months and it could easily be another 2 or 3 or more.... So what can I do? I cannot cancel because maybe the car will be here in 14 days and I would just shoot myself in the knee...

I honestly cannot believe that there is NO INFORMATION and no one to turn to..... really disappointing

That's the frustrating part for me, the timescales when ordered were a good bit off and I haven't heard anything since order.

I am really considering to cancel my order. I am at the beginning and it is easier to make this decision. I am going to talk with the dealer about this situation but obviously they will not know anything about it.

There are other phev option but more expensive. It is not easy.

WTF!!! Now this... 🤬🤬🤬

Glad that I didn't order a new car, I'd probably be dead by the time that it arrived and it probably still wouldn't work properly either.

I wonder if it's possible to ask for the car to be delivered sooner without the inner door panels 🤔 - apparently the fire affected some plastic-molding lines for Octavia door panels.
I would agree for those to be delivered later 😉

Or maybe that's great news! By the time those production lines get back on their feet, maybe Skoda will solve/debug the software issues they have with this car.

I'd say they already are debugged for LHD cars. The assistant systems in RHD cars are broken.

They are fine in my RHD car!

So I guess they pretty much are all fixed now. Only those first burnt pancakes remain, which is unfortunate if they need to replace hardware to solve the issues, who knows when they will get around to doing it with these shortages.

Smart. I am considering the same thing, even though I am already waiting since August.

Apperantly also the Skoda plant got damaged in the fire, the one that produces most of the Octavia models. So delays, delays and more delays with no info. People ordering now will get cars when Octavia mk5 is out.

So how exactly does cancelling now help?

How does waiting indefinitely help? I will go to my superiors and try to explain that Skoda is not an option anymore and to let me pick a car from stock, preferably some other manufacturer. I should have done this in the beginning, but Skoda was lying about delivery times. Basically the dealers were lying, but Skodas lack of professionality enabled this. Cause if they "don't know", then dealers don't know and need to guesstimate. Of course the dealer won't say: "Look, it is a lottery, you can get it in 6 months, maybe a year, maybe a year and a half..., but every ticket is a "winner". The Skoda lottery ticket price is over 30.000€. Are you buying?". I would say f*ck off and would be driving some other car by now...

If it wasn't you should be jumping in joy, because all these delays are increasing car value and that value will stay increased for years to come, by ordering earlier you're winning big time.

Genius!!! 🤣🤣🤣
You should send a message tot he factory and suggest the new "punch line"!

No, not really... I read several articles on that topic. The fire was close to the train-station in Mlada Boleslav, and the depot that caught fire was actually hosting some plastic-panels production lines for Octavia (belonging to a subcontractor, not property of Skoda). Here's a long (sorry for that) Google Translate of a Czech article on that:

"

The fire, which broke out on Saturday night in Mladá Boleslav and spread to the Grupo Antolin plant, will have a hard impact on the production of the largest Czech carmaker, Škoda Auto. The affected company makes door panels for it and the carmaker is not able to replace the given part of the fabric in any way. Due to the fire in Mladá Boleslav, we will not finish up to 16,000 Octavia, trade unionist Povšík guesses. This will affect production for months According to preliminary estimates, the damage will exceed one billion crowns after a large fire in the halls near the railway station in Mladá Boleslav, the police said on Twitter. No one was injured in the fire, firefighters killed him for about 17 hours. The causes of the fire are not yet known. Jan Sýkora, a spokesman for firefighters, has not yet had information on the amount of damage; according to him, the owner of the company estimated 900 million. "The estimate corresponds to what the owner of the company said, however, the amount of damage will be further specified," said Sýkora. The owner of the halls stored car parts in them. So far, the highest damage of four billion crowns was caused in 2015 by a fire in the Unipetrol complex in Záluží near Litvínov. More than a hundred firefighters and about 40 cars have been fighting the fire since Saturday evening, and they left for him around 20:30 on Saturday. They went to the reported waste fire, but found on the spot that pallets stacked to a height of several meters were burning. Wooden pallets probably belong to Akuma, which is based here. Of these, the fire spread to the production and storage halls in the neighborhood, which is used by Grupo Antolin Turnov. Kamila Andrlová from the ČTK company confirmed that the company is rented on the premises where it was burning. According to information from police spokeswoman Michaela Richter, the company apparently stored plastic car parts and production lines here. First, firefighters struggled with a lack of water, they had to set up several gas stations. The extinguishing was then complicated by a strong wind, but also by the sunken roof of one of the halls. The highest level of fire alarm was canceled on Saturday around 3:00, when firefighters brought the fire under control. An hour later, he was lowered to second grade and some firefighters returned to base. Half an hour after noon, firefighters lowered the alarm to base. An excavator of the rescue unit helped with the dismantling of the burnt structures, and a police dog trained to search for flame retardants also took part in searching the site. During the extinguishing on the spot, the chemical unit of the fire brigade from Kamenice monitored whether excessive amounts of pollutants were escaping into the air. The firefighters did not find any harmful values. Forensic scientists are investigating the causes of the fire. "We wanted to send a drone to the place, but due to the strong wind it is not possible," said police spokeswoman Michaela Richterová. According to her, police dogs will probably be used to help with the investigation.

On the other hand, it's as if the Skoda factory was directly affected - since they'll encounter a new components shortage...

This seems to be the location of the subcontractor:

if you go to the GMaps link and look at the last photos for "Grupo Antolin-Turnov (Mlada Boleslav)"  you'll see a few pictures uploaded after the fire.

Skoda factory is a few km away (straight line).

I don't buy cars to increase their value. :) For this there are other more profitable options. I doubt the price will stay increased for years to come. In my opinion chip shortage will be over next year and new production will exceed the demand with new chip factories.

Chip production is unlikely to recover even in a few years. And if manufacturers get forced to make even more EV's there will be additional shortages of basic materials.

Hi all, I've just had a missed call from my dealership ( Doncaster U.K) which I've order my vrs from back in October 2021 and when i phoned back she said they have just been given a build date for my car week1 2023!

She said don't think that it will be that long and just to keep waiting.

Sorry to say, she is lying to you 🤥. It probably will be that long, if not longer. 😔

Hi all,

Have been following this thread for some time and now want to share my experience. Ordered Octavia vRS TSI DSG Hatch back in September 23, estimated delivery time was 210 days or about 7 months. But today, out of the blue, my dealer called me and told my vRS is already at the dealership and I need to get winter tires to collect the car :D  Joy and stress at the same time. My car had some options, like heated windshield and CANTON, all fitted and nothing missing. Ordered in Lithuania. Also have a friend, who ordered SEAT Furmentor (or whatever that thing is called) in early July - still nothing from the dealership.
