And here's my final setup.

1000w JBL in custom enclosed box with the right amp. Kept the canton sub connected also, why not.

No other changes to the oem speakers.

Not a huge change in "size" of the bass but the punch is way stronger and it just fills in better.

Never done that, usually careful with how i load things in the trunk.

But before i had the nets to secure loads... Now either need to order the nets or actually mount protection, you're right.

Well, in theory you could take the signal from the rear door and choose an amp that can process normal sound to sub appropriate one. Or probably add a converter before the amp.

Then you'd need to reach the battery for the amp but also the on/off switch (not sure where) so u make sure the amp turns off when the car turns off.

I went to a specialist, didn't do it myself.

Especially the custom box is quite difficult.

An active subwoofer can be used with high level input speaker signal coming from rear door speaker signal (or front of course), I need to check color coding. Most new active subs, or small new sub amplifiers have auto-turn on function; so no separate remote signal needed.

However, you need to get +12V from battery to back. ground can be put on backseat belt bolts (after grinding the paint).

Quick update, not having a lot of time these days. But now ready for placing the amps, wiring job, mounting sub. And make a plan for the cover panel which will become something special.

Front door panel to be removed with screw on side behind small cap, 2 torx bolts behind handle and turn a bolt 90degrees at bottom of panel near the projector light.

Disconnect some connectors and water hose for umbrella and panel can come off with some lifting and force.clips will not break when temperature is above 15 degrees C.

 

Most likely golf 6 speaker adapters can be used for the midbass speaks, but thats what i have to confirm.

Interesting. I thought Octavia had 160mm speakers like it used to, but I guess they downsized for this generation. Also it took me two minutes of looking to figure out why your doors have no midrange speaker and only then I saw that there is no Canton logo. 🤣

Hello, i m here since i just receive a call from my Skoda dealer saying Canton is not available anymore (with the semi conductor crisis) on my RS i ve order in Juni !

 

So looking for a solution to upgrade the standard sound system

Yes I just tried to spec a new order  with Drive the Deal including Canton stereo. Was told by dealer it’s not available (park assist not available either)

What does that even mean? What kind of compensation will you get? I don't see how they could change your options by just claiming "we don't have them". I ordered an RS with Canton in May and I have not received any calls or letters of the sort.

No compensation, i ve to sign revised order or cancel it !

That's crazy. Maybe UK is getting their options changed to receive more cars, Canton option is still available in other configurators. 

Interesting. My RS iV is also coming with Canton, and i went to the dealer today to talk ****. No words about Canton being impossible. It sure is gone from new orders.

Ordered my 3rd VRS in August this year. 

 

Had a mk2 without audi upgrade ( was a really early one so they didnt even offer it at the time. Still had the round steering wheel!) 

 

Had a mk3 with the canton 

 

Have a golf mk7. 5 with Dynaudio just now.  

 

Just had a email today saying my order with the canton upgrade on my mk4 cannot be added! 

 

Phoned my local dealer in UK and they confirmed (car originally ordered via Lex as its a company car). 

 

They are blaming the semi conductor shortage and lex confirmed other manufacturers are striping options off as well. 

 

Really disappointed tbh. But unless you cancel your order and wait till the components are avalible again there is nothing the manufacturer will do.

Heh, i also have mk7.5 with dynaudio. Could not get the octavia without Canton.

 

But i asked about the canton missing from configurator.  Dealer just said that it might delay the car, but of course i can still have it. So that indeed sounds weird that you cant have it anymore, if it was available during ordering.
