Hi, I didnt replace the speaker cabling through the door, its already 1,5mm2 OFC, so no use to do this.

Hi, can anyone post the 6.5" model of the speaker adapters that fit the MK4?

Interesting but no use to us iV owners who have a ruddy big battery there 😞

I have the Canton Sound System in mine and to be honest, I am disappointed in it, especially the bass.

J must admit it’s taken me a couple of months to get the Canton sounding just right... I’m very pleased with it now especially as it was just £6/700

I’m pretty happy with my canton, mp3 fines on a memory stick seem to sound the best.

I honestly can’t seem to tell the difference between -9 and +9 on the subwoofer though. Mines the hybrid, so the sub is even more compromised.

one possible glimmer of hope though is that people who get the update to 1896 seem to say they noticed an improvement in the sound. I’m still on 1889, but hoping for an ota update.

this German forum seemed to imply that was starting to happen.

After two months of owning the car the Canton is beginning to be a real disappointment. Previus golf's Dynaudio was so much better.

Hi all. Canton in this Octavia, at least for my ears, is pretty good (given I listen to Spotify which isn’t perfect). But I had side by side comparison to Canton found in Kodiaq and it is definitely better, more bass. Of course Canton in Kodiaq is more powerful as a whole. But that being said I found something interesting in my Octavia that affects sound quality. When i first got the car and started fiddling with equaliser and set it up to my preference and thought it was done. Later I started noticing that music doesn’t sound right and then discovered that every time I cold start my car (or it sits for a longer time) i have to change back and forth equaliser to activate it, dunno how to say but it gets “flat” every time car is shut down even though it shows your setting or preset. Im on SW 1889 and every time I start my car i firstly change driving mode and then sound preset 😀 frustrating, hope updates will fix it.

The canton uses a 6.5" woofer as subwoofer. It won`t be loud neither go low enough. And upfront you get 13cm high Qts midwoofers, a mid which looks more like a tweeter and a 3/4" tweeter in a massive plastic housing, It is priced to what appears to be modest but indeed it what you` get.

Fitting the car with 6.5" adapters (those for the Golf mk6/7 fit perfectly) and installing higher quality speakers (Eton or similar) would give you way more bang for the buck and you may not even need a sub as on this one the door is sealed with one wiring harness exeption (easy to cover). If Dynaudios from a golf for example would fit, they make great loudspeakers.

VW's Dynaudio is not really using Dynaudio speakers :)

It's just marketing name. Same as in Skoda Canton is not using Canton speakers.

It's actually the case for majority of "premium" sound systems in cars.

One i know for sure is using branded speakers, are Focal systems in Peugeot.

Unfortunately you`re wrong (again). The units below are Dynaudio ones. A different chassis (plastic here) used but cones (patented) and remaining parts are genuine Dynaudios. Indeed, if you have enough monies, Per & Ejvind would build you even a set of woofers under the post-Dynaudio Audio Technology company, what else is left for a big name as VW?

Yep. The same thing happens to me. Every time I climb into the car I have to set the the EQ and the sound focus. 1889 firmware on the car...

Do you have MySkoda account and user created in the car? If so, try to set sound settings and then go to users and sync your settings.

Might be, that it's not syncing settings when you changed them, and each time you start your car, it downloads wrong setting from your profile. Happened to with phone favorites - couldn't figure out why they disappear.

Tired it. Does not work. I think its just a bug.

Yes it is not working unfortunatley. The thing is that on the screen it shows my last saved EQ and other sound preferences but you can hear that it is completely flat EQ. So you have to adjust everything once again.

Ok, than it's definitely a bug.

On the standard system it stays as preset last time. Maybe a bug.

Gents after adding an aftermarket sub (JBL Basspro Hub)+Helix AAC+HP I decided to take another route and use the Canton amplifier for the Subwoofer.

The universe finally shed some light on this big sound issue that affects all of the octavias with Canton (Crappy speakers) in pointing me to the solution.

On the 2021+ Audi's with B&O the spare wheel subwoofer is rated 2X8Ohm 2X100W and is literally plug and play with the NX3 Canton system. The sound difference is mind bobbling.

The PN is 80A035382A and not 80A035382 that is on Audi Sound System and rated 1X 40W at 4Ohm

Enjoy!

In what way is the Audi sub better than the Skoda one? Louder? Punchier etc?

It has almost triple the size of the Canton sub Magnet and is louder, deeper, punchier.

Given that The Canton Sub with Front setting and +3 Sub volume starts to clip at half the volume, the B&O Sub sustains the +9 Volume at any level. This should give you an ideea about the difference.

For comparison, it sounds better than the sub in the Superb 3. Or if you go by an Audi dealer, listen to it in the Q5.

Swap it, it will amaze you.

PS: you will also need a nut and a thread to tighten it. The OE NX3 plastic thread will not fit through the B&O Sub.

Sounds an interesting upgrade ! Any idea on prices?

did Audi do a better sub for those of us with hybrids? These are in a different location than the normal octavia models?

Dunno about hybrid subs. The B&O is around 100E and a lot more from suppliers, in a new, of the shelf.

I bought mine for 50 quid :) and I consider myself lucky with that price.

For hyb maybe you should investigate the sub on the Superb. I've lived with it for about a week and it didn't dissapoint. I also believe that the specs are the same with 2x8ohm(the biggest pain in the a... when trying to replace the Sub)

LE: I've heard about retrofits that sadly need to modify a bit the sub housing but with greater improvement for the bass (surpasses the B&O) using https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/match/subwoofers/pp-8w-q

Basically you bridge 2x3Ohm coils and you end up with 2x6Ohm that are in the comfort zone of the amp.

There are some vids online and also on thr ru forums about this but it's alot more complicated and also expensive.
