WTF Is happening System Gliches

Featured Replies

Oh wo is me with this system software in the Octy.

Today it forgot me as main user, all my settings radio stations etc gone and in guest mode. When i click my name on users menu it comes up changing vehicle settings,, i say ok , it says Sorry function unavailable. So i try to re- login using my set email and password.

SORRY FUNCTION UNAVAILABLE!!.

Next i get out and lock the car , leave it for 5 mins. For the last 9 weeks of ownership when i open the digital display says welcome and my name.  Nope not there after locking. I carry out the steps above and cant chose guest or my name as user. WTF is this.

I'll be on to Skoda in the morning but as these gremlins go , i bet its gone by morning.

Any ideas on whats happening after all i shouldn't need to be a computer coder to work this system.

Last update: The dementia problem with the Octy now gone. Checked it there after leaving it a couple of hours and it loaded my profile right away. I did nothing other than leave it alone and locked.

Jeez , was there no software checking when they coded this crap.

This is quite regular in my case, happens every 2-3 weeks. Very annoying, but still beter than the screen glitches I am experiencing from time to time...

Same here, happens sometimes, but I Just switch the user or wait a bit if it does not let me do that.

What is more annoying is the "virtual pedal" for boot lift is not always working for me... Sometimes i have to use button in the doors (as even the key fob boot button stops occasionally from working)

Another update and info for all you guys having probs. This morn , the car asked for my sign in details. So i put them in and up comes a familiar spinning wheel telling me to be patient. So i waited and stayed patient for 30mins and F all happened. In that time no access to radio , climate control , phone etc.

So i called my supplying dealer and they told me a major software service was due on my car. I wonder when they were going to tell me.

Anyway the dealer is coming to pick it up and they told me it takes quite a while to carry out the service.

Call your dealer and hopefully we can get an end to this crap system

I think the central Skoda servers are having issues, I had the same last night unable to use the app. Today the app let me sign in but some of the functions are not working.

The issue I think is that the MIB3 downloads your profile from the servers when you turn the car on which seems to be why some days it takes quite a time to boot others it is quick.

It would be good if the car had a last used profile stored so that if it cant talk to mother Skoda if uses that.

It looks like the my car has not reported in since mid afternoon yesterday :-(

So what happens if you are in a mobile 'not spot' so the MIB3 is unable to contact the factory servers?

The assumption that the car will always be in a place where there is mobile coverage is invalid - even on the car deck of a ferry there is unlikely to be mobile coverage.

I’m not sure what model you have, but a number of us with first edition models who wrote an email to honest john highlighting all these software issues have been subsequently contacted by Skoda UK and asked to take our cars to dealers where they will take 2 to 3 weeks to resolve problems.   Mine goes in on 20th April.  They will provide a long term courtesy car.  See the kph/mph thread.

Hi Ajdude thx for your reply , my car is the petrol VRS built 20th December 2020. I think its fair to say they served us with a BETA version of the coding and i read that the VW's are having similar problems. It makes me worry a little that the other systems , such as radar or inlane etc may have faults further down the line. The software i had in my Columbus set up om my last car Superb was pretty much faultless.

Why so long to rectify ,, is it not just software?

  • 2 weeks later...

How have you got the car fixed? I took my 21 reg octavia SE First Edition 1.5 TSI manual to my local DM Keith in Leeds 3 times and it is still not resolved. They keep saying they can't reproduce the fault. Once it did it literally when I was picking the car up, so I called them from the car if they want to have a look at it to diagnose what's wrong. They told me they would have to drive the car to find out that the warning on the dash doesn't tell them anything. They are useless. I love the car otherwise, if the system starts up it is great but when it doesn't it's such a crap.

My issues: the infotainment system doesn't start when I start the car. It shows black screen. Can't adjust climate control, no parking sensors, no apple carplay, no audio, no radio. Once it said SOS call unavailable, seatbelt unfastened (even though it very much was) and that the airbags don't work. Sometimes it's just the parking sensors that don't work. It happens about once or twice a week. But I use the car quite a lot, multiple starts a day and multiple short trips. When I lock the car, leave it locked for 10min and unlock it, it's fine.

What can I do? Take it to a different dealership? Call somebody? How do I get them to fix it instead of pretending to fix it?

who did you contact at honest john? I can't find any contact aside from marketing ...

Here is video of my black screen although it happened 3 times since I got the car (2 months ago). Maybe you can do the same and show it to the dealer. That was my intention...

Video has a time stamp, so if there is a log in the car cpu, then it is possible to investigate...In theory...

I do have a video of this happening as well. I showed it to them but they did not care. They said it did it to them once when they had the car for a week. They did some "battery reset" and when I came to pick it up it did it again.

Hi, we are now connected with Skoda directly through the email address of [email protected].  They seem more responsive if the car has the issue associated with not being able to change both the satnav and speedo units.

I bought my car from DM Keith but from Grimsby, they have claimed that a few first editions had problems but were solved by software updates.  IMO that was a load of BS and I suspect the dealers were trying to offload these First Edition demonstrators knowing they had issues.

DM Keith have been pretty good but they are 134 miles for me so going through Skoda UK means I can use a local dealer.

I think this car has major software problems that will take some time to fix.

Weirdly enough I bought it from DM Keith Grimsby as well. Because they had a used one I fancied with delivery mileage but then the new one was just marginally more, so I decided to go with brand new and I stuck with Grimsby cause I don't mind a 70mi drive ... Maybe I can drop an email to the [email protected]

Hi, as u can see in my earlier thread from today I also had exactly the same problem with Skoda connect "function unavailable" and app not getting car data. Its been like this for 8 days now but for a couple of days I contacted Skoda Sweden which sent a report to the factory.

This afternoon I got an e-mail from Skoda Connect services telling me that they have deactivated the connect services and I could now reconnect from the infotainment.  However there was no need to reconnect, everything worked fine when i went to the car!  Tried the app also and its working fine now.

This fault could be solved from some administration site for Skoda Connect apparently. No need to factory reseteting infotainment.

Will se for how long time it will work now...

Probable not the same problem as what you have but my own "virtual pedal" or "easy open" setting in infotainemnt do not have the same on/off slider as other settings, instead it will deaktivate if you click on the text. The text is green when activated and grey when deactivated. I found this out when I clicked on it to se if there was an submenu. Very missleading, but my misstake. :blush

I've had same thing once.

But on regular basis my car isn't recognizing the key/user and so every settings the other user has doesn't load (mirrors, seat, gauges, etc.) Also if I try to change the user manually sometimes it just won't change it.

Radio isn't working sometimes either. Also locking the doors without the key from the door works about 50% of the time.

Aircon wasn't working one day.

My mobile phone connects about 50% of the time automatically to the car. The other half you have to select it manually.

The car didn't connect to internet for about a week. So the connect app was useless.

So quite a lot of bugs.

Let's hope that the software problems will be fixed soon enough. The irony is that the more you pay for the car, the more problems with the software as you get access to more options.

What DM Keith have told you is rubbish as you say. None if them have been fixed as yet.
