Who said that? Here in Greece we have hot cliamate too and the Skoda mechanics which had Felicia some years ego suggest 80-85C and even 75-80C thermo-switch I have use all the scales from 70

  • @Agalalh You mentioned you don't want the radiator fun to run almost all the time. A lower temperature thermo-switch will keep the fan working often. It is not economical to use the rad

The temperature radiator fan switches have scales at 5 °C Which thermo switch says on that is for 88C only? Take a look some Mahle:   https://www.euspares.co.uk/manufacturer/mahle-

Look the arrow, it points the Yellow ring that your thermostat sensor has.

The horseshoe clip is a good indication if the sensor has ever been changed because people will fit it the other way round

Well then 80c thermostat is not going to cut it. Given that you have new rad and all I would look into a tiny head gasket failure

I wonder what's going to happen on Winter, you will have no heat in the beginning.

NO if no thermostat causes the fan to run all the time a 80c thermostat is going to make it worse

  • 3 weeks later...

hello, as I said before, I installed the 80'c thermostat.

but i need an opinion
Does this 10'c difference cause problems with the engine? (fan switch 85-80)

I'm thinking of installing an 80-75c fan switch if I can find it.

what are your thoughts

Let it be don't burn your fan out

Well IMO there's no point in running the fan if the thermostat hasn't opened.

You are going way too aggressive with the fan

Why i just ask which it's better switch with thermostat 80

The fan won't run if thermostat is closed - the switch is at output side of the radiator, which is at ambient temperature when the thermostat is closed. But with 70° switch, it might run even at higher speeds in high-load situations. I wouldn't go beyond 5° difference.

Having tried 70-75 switch it caused the fan to run wayyyyy too much. I reverted back to my 80-85c.

I heavy traffic at summer actually works all the time.

For me last only one day, i could stand it and the next day at morning i was in the repair-shop with the demand ''change it now''.

Some say ''this will save your gasket@ but i don't agree.

I also dont agree, head gasket goes from using water, anything below 100c is actually pretty ok
