Map update brings routing problems

Featured Replies

Anyone else had routing issues with the latest ECE1 2021 map? I "upgraded" at the weekend and now several of my stored destinations give "Error, unable to route to this destination". Two of which are in Plymouth, one is Sutton Harbour Marina in the city centre (Barbican area) and the other a retail park in Plymouth. Several other routes around Devon give the same error, but not all. As a test I deleted one of the routes and manually added it from the crosshairs on the map screen and then it works ok. Anyone else had problems? The roads haven't changed.

Simple solution don't use the built-in sat nav and use either Waze or Google Maps and Android Auto.

@NikTheGeekI've seen a number of folk on other threads report that the maps for 2021 are somehow broken for their MIB1 units.  Solution; either go back to last year's maps and just accept that the maps are now knackered or try and patch to the latest firmware for your Amunsden / Columbus and see if that fixes things.  SKODA/VW stopped updating the maps after 2020, so the information will be the same as last year.

Solutions to that: upgrade your headunit and screen to a MIB2 unit - which should hopefully give updates to at least 2025.

I know Ords it's sad that I think that way, but the mapping is inferior to both and of course with Waze you get camera information and Google Maps you get some camera information, but also live traffic information too.

I find that the built-in system is cack handed and absolutely abysmal when it comes to postcodes etc.

I also use what3words too.

Whatever the comparison with other mapping apps, the built in unit should still work.

I have checked out my mib2 with the latest update and my previous destinations do not now work. So SKODA seem to have changed the way stored destinations, both previous and favourites, are referenced.

A new destination works fine.

Any ideas how to clear my previous destinations?

Take my feedback as tongue in cheek:blush:. I do agree the system is inferior & lacking in functions compared to other systems, although I've never had problems with postcodes. For me, it's just convenient to have a built in system.

My phone is connected to my car twice it charges wirelessly and then connects via USB cable to infotainment system for AA.

I choose mostly to use Waze and it comes up on the screen fine. No issues whatsoever with routing etc.

Updated my MIB1 Columbus last week to ECE 21/22 and used it last week to route to somewhere about 30 miles away. Worked fine as usual.
