On the last it's probably true. It isn't that much different to the mib2 high. You might at this stage coming off contract have to wait a bit till your maps are "old". The offline ones get a published update in June and  November unless @MartiniB finds them ahead. Generally does.

Dependent of what country you are in  mib3 connected services are sold differently on how they are unbundled.

Hi,

I came from a Superb MK2 not a MIB2. So the whole MIB is new to me, but reading across forums MIB3 feels more like a downgrade from previous MIB versions. Certainly the Sat Nav feels pants compared to my very old RNS510 / Columbus and I think Skoda has reduced functionality from the MIB2.5. Admittedly the display is nicer and bigger than the RNS510 / Columbus.

Can an SD card reader like the one on the MIB2 be retro fitted to a MIB3? I am only asking because the head unit displayed USB1 and USB2 as input options in the media button next to BT. I have a blanked off slot in the glove box.

I have seen people mount a card sharing thing with SD in front of the USB slots with a WiFi 5ghz adaptor. A Heath Robinson affair. Technically it proves a USB extender can be added which also has an SD reader in it although you can buy USB 3 to SD adaptors if you really want SDs to put music files on rather than SD. I have a USB-A to SD on my new laptop that didn't have an SD reader built in. I'm sure there will be the same for USB-C but bumping about in the car, reckon best to use USB-C sticks. Reversible ones (USB-A / USB-C) are recommended for offline map updates if you don't have USB-C on your PC. Adapters may not have all the pins connected. Where some people fail on mib3 firmware / map updates via a stick. Apparently retrofitters that sell firmware for mib3 find this quite common with their clients who cant get the firmware installed, whilst others say no it's not an issue with the right adapter. Not for them it wasn't. Something to look out for. The make do mentality ("engineering approach") verses rather than getting something for the job.

In the glove box behind the blanking plate is the actually mib3 units. It's how they are presented now. You have to be carefull with what you do in RHD cars just there. The glove box often drops further once fitments are moved on the gliders to reveal the fuse box and pollen filter so the glove box is also a hidden maintenence area. Putting things in there may hinder service.

Hub was the word I was looking for. They had mounted it as a hub in that affair. So the unit supports hubs via USB.

caught new OI_P119_EU_202425_Offline_Update.zip on Škoda's server,

BUT content is exactly same as year old P95

Reckon the VWs files are better 🤐.

by compare content?

the method how VW forming file name doesn't allow guess it before release 😞

You haven't found out how to read the mm.yy in those files yet. Somebody probably has but I haven't seen it yet. That way you could rank the different releases between brands.

Hello guys, i've been trying to update my map from Europe to north africa using a usb a drive and a genuine samsung type c adapter. The file is around 1,5 gb and after 4 days and many driving hours the map didnt get updated. Any probable reasons ?

I would try genuine USB C stick first of all. I mess around with adapters using san disk usb stick. Both cheaper adapters and also an Apple one.  Nothing worked

Bought a USB C sandisk 64gb of Amazon £9. Literally within two days of a couple of hours of driving it was updated!

Reversible ones like that are better since adaptors may be not fully wired for usb3. That has come up on Briskoda and Seat sites.

There is an issue of what navigation FeC the car has installed. If it an import from the EU as a second hand it may be set up with a European FeC than a RoW FeC. That's how mib2 high worked which essentially is how mib3 works.

This is where I say photograph the same car with navigation that works in the country against your import. Study the FeCs and Google. I dont think there are any DIY solutions to changing them yourself as mib2 high.

Update OI_P119_EU_202425_Offline_Update.zip contains data from 23.12 (YY.MM).

You can check this for example in the MIB31_EU.ROOT/3D/PRODUCT.NDS file. This is a SQLite database, you can find this information in the updateRegionTable table.

Great you have answered my question of how to find the release date and tally with the online ones.  Well done.

I believe we might need a SQLite addon engine to open these files ?.

Need a tutorial / short note on how to load up the missing bit.

I successfully opened the MIB31_EU.ROOT/3D/PRODUCT.NDS file in DB Browser for SQLite.

Thank you very much... got that working. One for @MartiniB based on this post

There is a ECE 2024/2025 which tallies with the results shown in the database.

I see they are churping about it:

https://www.briskoda.net/forums/search/?q=CE2024/2025&quick=1&type=forums_topic&item=524268

on a search for ECE 2024/2025 so it's slipped out which I quess it's why we are talking about it as confirmed @c34 ... I had been wondering where the June release had got to. I don't think I missed @MartiniB 's posts on it but perhaps I did.

These are the 2024/25 June 2024 European release.

Skoda have officially released the 2024/25 maps for Europe if you had a Skoda VIN, fear not the direct link is this:

https://infotainment-cdn.skoda-auto.com/base/maps/OI_P119_EU_202425_Offline_Update.zip

VW have not as yet put the file up on their map site but again we have the link:

https://navigation-maps.volkswagen.com/vw-maps/EUR_12PR119_FCT3WS-23131_Offline_Update.tar

Both are identical... so the story goes. No sign of Seat thou. All files are interchangeable.

I'm at a complete loss with trying to find out if my maps need updating! I have just got a 2022 Superb. The system is telling me this:

image.thumb.jpeg.0de040cef7b241541d68a4ebc9190ace.jpeg

Just been into Skoda and the tech guy says everything is up to date, and the car will automatically update over the air. My understanding from reading on here is the map version is 7th month 2021, the tech guy says it's just 27.1 release i.e. the next one will be 27.2. I don't even know how to tell what make my system is. Skoda's portal says it's Amunsden so I assume that's correct. Finding this so confusing!!

To me that's old 2021 month 7. Possibly for some reason it's not updating over the air. @MartiniBhas mib3 he may have better suggestions. I'd try the download above if you get fed up waiting. Either of those two links, if it's not compatible it won't do anything.

Thanks Tell. I've downloaded the above. I looked at the long press on the menu button today and that gave me an option to download over the air I assume, gonna try that over the weekend if not I'll try the usb option. Will post back if I have any luck.

Any advance on 23.12 with that file release above means it's taking it over the air. You lag with a 6 to 12 month period if you use the file loads rather than over the air but saves money on connect services (get out of contract). If you live in a 4g black hole like where I live it also has merit. Quite large down loads over problematic 4g, fine for people living or traveling in good 4g locations. Horses for courses.

Tried the update with the hidden/engineering menu, couldn't get it to do anything. Had the offer of Skoda Connect free for one month so gone for that and see if anything changes.

Checked today map version 24.8, so I'm guessing it updated because I got Skoda connect up and running for a month.

That's it.

My Karoq shows navigation database version 24.8, how does that relate to the download available on the Skoda update portal, which is showing valid since 25/2024, which I guess is week 25 in 2024, or is that version 25.0 ?
