Hum. All that Geoff reports are already in the media. What has he reported that were not reported elsewhere?

The fact is Geoff is gaining viewership by exploiting the algorithm. He exploits with anti-EV clickbait titles and pandering to an audience that likes have their anti-EV sentiments confirmed with many not factual throwaway one-liners. The actual news can be found elsewhere and the reporting are better elsewhere.

*sigh*

What sort of punishment would main stream media get? if they were to speak out...... against what?  What evidence is there?

Some level of tin foil hat going on here.......

No tin foil at, just keeping politics out of the thread but I suspect you....

@wyx087 This is a little off-topic, but I post it here as an example that what you object to with Geoff Buys Cars channel is nothing unique or unusual, I post a short video from a military aviation enthusiast like myself, who has a YT channel, and he has used clickbait tactics in his title, to make his video stand out from all the others. The same as advertisers and even political parties do the same thing in order to gather your vote come election time, and then they walk away from the very thing that helped to make your mind up to vote for them in the first place.

Yes I did see this and just put it down as a form of clickbait designed to get people to either buy or subscribe to find out more. What gave it away for me was the claim about medical history and sex life data being harvested, just how on earth was a car going to do that. Tracking where you go and your speed, yeah, I can believe anything else, nah.

If you connect your phone to use apple car play or android auto it can probably harvest data from social media apps you have.

You would need to read what "permissions" you were giving the Car's media entertainment unit.

Good luck doing that with my phone, I keep no such info on my phone, who does? Android Auto, in my opinion, is overrated. I used it once and not any more since. It is just rubbish, Google Maps trying to be a sat nav, sucks, give me my TomTom any day.

It's an age thing.

I don't use my phone for the car apart from hands free.

The under 35's tend to control their whole life with the phone.

I've been actively avoiding that video precisely because of that title.

Yes, maybe that is where the move towards touch screen controls for some of the cars controls came from. Personally, I find them a bad interface and downright dangerous, just as dangerous as using a mobile phone that is not hands free in a car.

How do you mean? Were you expecting to see a plane crash? That's what the title conjures up in my mind, but I knew that wouldn't be the case as my Son runs a military Aviation forum and any plane news he would have told me about,

Just asking for why you would make such claims. Where have you seen any evidence of such "punishment"?

Seeing this is "truth about EV's" thread, the reason for your alleged main stream media not "dare to speak out" about this truth is very topical. If it goes into politics, it's still on topic.

BBC ring any bells, selected media only allowed to attend Government news conferences etc, political appointments made to head up BBC to control what it reports etc. Have you had your head buried in the sand or been in a coma for the last few years, surely no further explanation is required. 🙄

Yes further explanation is required, but let's keep it topical and be specific.

Just from last few pages, BBC reported on the run away MG, it also reported on the Cornwall van fire. How are they being controlled to not report all "truth about EV's" that we have to use Geoff as source?

This video popped up as a recommended watch, and I was puzzled by the title. The car has high miles on it, and it suddenly died overnight. He got it for a real good price, and now he is thinking of scrapping it because it needs a new battery at £17,000 from Tesla, but he got it for £7,000, and he reckons Car Vertical thinks its worth at least £32,000 so what else is wrong with it that he is not telling us?

It was punted because the Battery was going out of warranty and  because who had it knew it was gubbed.

Not rocket science or anything new when something looks too good to be true.

Thats what I thought, but the numbers don't add up, if its worth £32,000, then the batteries are £17,000 + the £7,000 paid for the car only makes it £24,000, some £8,000 less than the Car Vertical lowest valuation for that particular car so I would have thought thats is worth fitting new batteries and pocketing the extra £8,000 no?

He is in the Youtube business and clicks & buying cars.

It will all come right, did he really not make sure the batteries state was checked before buying before to put lipstick on a pig and have an updated TESLA?

He can get a battery from other than TESLA. like from the Salvage Yard we watched on the video with Johnny Smith.

There is someone that thinks first and then buys cars and has all the ducks in a row.

Just a load of **** and Bull, like the muppets that buy Mk2 Fabia vRS for much cheapness and want to know how to modify before they know the engine or DSG is any good.

A lot of people think that YouTubers make fantastic earnings, but they actually don't make anything like what people think. Take the MacMaster with his Porsche Taycan and his food videos only earns an estimated £2.6k to £41k a year and he has to pay tax etc out of that and his expenses.

Here is a link to his YouTube earnings

The MacMaster's YouTube Stats (Summary Profile) - Social Blade Stats

Yes but it as a job on the side.

Is he taking out expenses and then making that sort of money.  Fuel / energy and accommodation for the job he is going to or the youtubing while doing it.

If it covers all this eating drinking and being a bl00dy moan about doing it that is win win chicken dinner. Or Fish & Chips, All Day Breakfast etc.

Graphic Designer / IT / Webpages, all good on the Southern district.

It is like e-bay selling as a hobby that actually is a business / self employed.

Well in his case it all he does and if he only makes the lower annual income from it of £2,600 as per the website said then it is really going to even cover his car payments, on the other hand, if he gets the upper estimate of £41,000 and that is before NI and Tax etc it still is not that much. There are people around who are earning £50,000 or more a year, 9 to 5 job, paid holidays, pension, sick pay and only doing 40 hours a week.

Now if that was in addition to having a full time day job as well, then yes, he is doing very well, but he isn't.

My heart bleeds for him.

While charging my car I found out the guy who,s van I posted about during COVID for being parked for days and even weeks in charging bays plugged in is a Traffic Warden.  That really was a surprise to me but really about par for the course.

Yep, sod you Jack, I'm already attitude.

Is it just me - or has there been a huge increase in people who think they are entitled to do whatever they like, too bad for anyone else who just wants to get on with their day?

I think there are better ways to spend money than employing marshals.

Key problem is no queuing structure, you can't easily jump a queue in petrol station. Cans of paint and some planning will easily solve that.

Longer term, invest more chargers or portable chargers to add charging capacity.

All solutions already mentioned here:

It would be interesting to see what sort of charger rage we'll get this Christmas. Remember the long Tebay service queue last Christmas?

Hopefully people see articles like this and plan accordingly.

Maybe have premium priced chargers accessible via a "Priority Queue" system, for those in a rush?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-19712847

Then owners of flash German EVS could avoid having to queue with all the plebs in their Zoes and the like. 😋
