  • What radio did you have fitted?   If it's a non-skoda unit, then did you fit an amplifier before connecting the aerial cable to the stereo?   The standard radio has an amplifier bu

Heart FM; I'd rather force bicycle spokes into my ears than listen to that horror!

Let me know how you get on with it and how you do it as I will need to do the same thing. My library of cassettes and CDs is good, subjectively, but I'd like to be able to get West Sound sometimes. :)

I have a usb and everything plus blue tooth so i can listen to music just wanted the radio and the ability to have traffic on but this amplifier has not worked not sure what to try now.

I'm going to throw in a curve ball here !! I had a mk3 cavvy which had a power ariel on the back left quarter- we filled it and sprayed it leaving me with no radio

I put in a Bosch Autofun (from memory) behind the rear view mirror and the reception was perfect

I came across this on fleabay - which is probably a rip off version - might be worth doing or summit similar -

Otherwise you could be looking at replacing mast and cable along with an amplifier? Ive seen some VW group cars with a mast that has the amplifer built in with switched feed from the radio like an amp has ? Now I'm talking late 90s Audis with the beesting type ariel- A4 avant springs to mind ! I think Corsa B and Astra C had them as well ?

Now this info could be classed as the   ramblings of an old git who is stuck in the early 90s not realising that time has moved on but it might be useful too 😉

What did you connect the blue wire of the booster to? It should be connected to an ignition live.

I connected it to the blue wire coming out from the back if the stereo its weird as could here the static had died down but no reception still.

You should connect it to the switched live at the back of the radio.

So the blue should be the power antenna wire which should work and is perfectly acceptable to use. Have you checked to see if it's actually live?

It's not, it's for a slaved amplifier, without wanting to repeat myself I had to connect it to the switched live using a scotchblock.

Sorry Mr Meldrew, I stand corrected then.

That's what I did I tested the wire its a switched live blue and the only wire left coming out the back of the stereo.

Nice video I'm concerned now that the actual aerial cable does need replacing and one main job I have left to do is to retrieve my head lining so I think these 2 jobs eill be done at the same time once it's a bit warmer.

The cable should be alright, but the aerial bases do fail. You can either replace them like for like, or get something more modern like an aftermarket sharkfin

When I tested the blue wire at the back of my radio it didn't stay live so I just spliced straight into the yellow or red switched live, I can't remember which, it was a long time ago.
