skoda fabia failed MOT on emissions

There is no manifold cat on a BKY, as I realised a bit late in the discussion. The pre-cat on an original section is the fat bit up by the four-stud connection to the manifold.

Forget about it. Anything but a megabucks genuine replacement won't have it.

  • I got someone to come out to check the car and confirmed its a bad catalytic converter  and i found a car breakers who is willing to give me a catalytic converter and said if it passes the mot I pay £

  • Update good news my car passed its mot and it was the catalytic converter not the 02 sensor. And had to replace the exhaust sleeve as it was 100% rust lol  Thanks for every one's help 👍👍👍👍

  • This has completely spiralled out of control, if the car has failed on emissions there should be a readout from the gas analyser stapled to the fail sheet. Please post a picture so we can clearly see

Sorry I was lost, I thought you got your MoT last week - to be fair it sounds like this MoT tester gave you a more than fair chance.  As you've found lack of error codes and warning lights doesn't always mean there's nothing wrong, your eyes and nose can sometimes be more reliable than app scanners.

But all might not be lost.

Yea thats true only way to find out is to just buy the exhaust and go from there

Ok thanks do you think its worth buying the one from eBay? If not have to look for someone who's breaking the same car

Which makes me think it's running rich.

What will make it run rich and what do I have to check

Show us the emissions test printout; no point in doing anything else before that.

Adding more fuel than it actually needs. There are lots of reasons for this, so best wait for the emissions report.

I got someone to come out to check the car and confirmed its a bad catalytic converter  and i found a car breakers who is willing to give me a catalytic converter and said if it passes the mot I pay £50 for the catalytic converter but if it fails he take it back with no charge so got a good deal plus mot guy said he will do the mot for free as well 😀
