280 AWD roll bar kit

Recommended Posts

Has anyone installed a roll bar kit on a 280 AWD?

How did you find it? What was the outcome in car balance?

I think only HR are in production for the AWD. Eibach is no longer available and superpro doesn't appear to have anything on their website.

Thankyou

The advice from the below thread is Golf Mk 7 R (MQB) will fit.

Notes:

Its not possible to determine stiffness of the anti-roll bar by the bar diameter alone.

The variation in price is $195

Kit contents can vary between manufacturer.

The Whiteline kit in particular includes drop links which some manufacturers charge over $300 for a pair if needed.

Freight is not included below and can very greatly between countries and at times suppliers.

H&R pictures show multihole adjustment but H&R site states front 2 hole rear non-adjustable (check)

For an idea on how much hole position can affect stiffness Whiteline provide a chart showing stiffness change based on lever position. Hole position will vary between manufacturers.

Whiteline don't have a product for the awd superb.

Is there a difference between a golf r bar and a superb bar?

There's really only 3 variables maybe 4

- does it fit

- does it interfere with anything.

- bar diameter

- solid or hollow.

In the catalogues they normally group the skoda with the arteon awd. I've never seen them mention golf R

Awesam - Are you happy with the kit of front and rear? What settings did you use?

Thanks

Andrew

ok so the Golf R and the Superb AWD are part of the same MQB, therefore most of the parts are identical.

The ARBs are pretty fit and I've had no issues. Ive put it on the hardest setting and its fine.

I had a Superpro rear ARB kit fitted to my 280/206 Sportline, the Golf R spec version fits and I'm happy with it. I did have to go back to Fulcrum suspension and get the nuts retightened with some loctite after they loosened and it started clunking.

On sale currently in Oz from Sparesbox - https://www.sparesbox.com.au/part/superpro-rear-24mm-adjustable-swaybar-and-link-kit-fits-audi-vw-rc0052rz-24kit?gclid=CjwKCAjw9qiTBhBbEiwAp-GE0TXG60vNzkcporVtDGF3bo0xTVsv-mAiCMm2TMkEOS3VAbzroKkLyBoCOXwQAvD_BwE

Looking at the old Eibach E40-85-042-02-11 the bar size was F28 / R25

The Eibach Golf R is 28 / 25

The HR Superb AWD is 30 / 25.4

The HR Golf R is 30 / 25.4

The Whiteline Golf R is 24 / 22

The Superpro Golf R is 26 / 24

So the HR is quite a bit bigger than the Whiteline.

I’ve got a hr fitted to my superb sportline 272 4x4 estate, which is listed for the golf R, I got it from AKS Tuning, no fitment issues whatsoever and it does make a difference.

Front and rear, or just rear?

My fronts been replaced twice under warranty and its rattling/creaking again.
was going to replace the rear soon to help roll, but might pull both of them out and replace if I can get a positive review, as the fronts a tad more work to change out.

Only got the rear done but it made a massive difference and stopped the rear from excessive roll

Did you use the existing skoda links or aftermarket?

Was told by AKS tuning not to bother wasting my money and stick with the oe ones, to be fair they are well built and short in length so can’t see any issues

I changed mine to Whiteline endlinks.

Tis not required as the factory ones r good, but I wanted to, for peace of mind, given my car is lowered 20mm.

Sorry to drag this old thread up.

I see people are successfully running the whiteline bar for the golf r. Firstly, why don’t they list comparability? I see that hardrace do a bar and they show comparability across the MQB platform, which makes sense.

Anyway, my actual question. I see whiteline do a 22mm and 24mm bar. The hardrace is 25mm. Would a 22 make a good noticeable difference? I’m on stock suspension and may get Koni SA at some point, but likely not that soon. I want an improvement in handling but don’t want to go too far since this is a family wagon.

So I fitted a Whiteline 24mm rear sway bar a few months ago and had it set to the harder of the two settings on the bar. It’s the Whiteline bar for the Mk7 Golf R and which will fit seamlessly to the AWD Superb. Fantastic upgrade and a great match for the Eibach Pro-Kit springs I had fitted previously and with DCC set to sport. The bar doesn’t make the ride harsh at all, but the vehicle now corners much flatter and tighter than before with much better steering feel.

I would be wary of fitting a 22mm bar. I watched some YouTube vids of people who fitted 22mm bars to their Golf Rs and were very underwhelmed. Given the Superb has an even more ‘comfort’ oriented suspension than the R, I don’t think 22mm is enough. And don’t be afraid to get the bar set to the harder setting either!

Thanks for that, 24mm it is!
