UK Octavia VRS on 19's and H&R Coils!

Featured Replies

Rumbled?

And there's me wasting my time PMing him about a certain Skoda dealer you and I are familiar with.

I thought they had gone the way of Forward Motors when I drove past yesterday as the showroom is empty & obviously being worked upon.

But apparently they are having the showroom re-vamped, will take 3 months.

Guess the hourly rate is going up then !! :cussing:

Forgive my cynicalism, but threads such as these carry more weight for me when its a forum member with a fair few posts to their name rather than someone with a very few, and who seems to be exhaultating a particular item which many others dont mention.

This may be a genuine thread, but I will just sit and watch.

octavia vrs. miltek, supersprint, any one got any option idealy one that fits the vrs back bumper!

Andy...

I do know where you're coming from (I run my own forum and know exactly what you mean) however...

There are SO many other VAG owners using this product that it's like putting blinkers on to ignore it.

Seat Ibiza/Leon owners love it, MK4 Golf owners love it... Why can't Octavia/Fabia owners love it too! (They've all got the same engines after all!)

Now it sounds like I'm trying to sell it which I'm not at all (cos I have nothing to do with it... I drive a N/A car!!), but it's wierd to see what a hostile reaction it has caused.

The only other time I have seen this is when a guy with REVO off the mk4 golf forum went to another forum that is run by someone with links to a rival tuning company!!

Anyway, I'm sure when James gets his on the rollers and posts a scan of the results we'll all be able to make our own minds up.

REVO isn't snake oil, it's up there with the best even though they might not have the "history"... (even though if you reserch hard enough you'll find that a lot of the people behind REVO come from another well known tuning company!)

I don't want to say any more on this topic really as I can see it's causing some friction... Let's just wait until the pudding to see if there's proof!

Anyway, I think this thread kinda got hyjacked by the BHP quote I put on the first post.... How about saying "Hey Josh, welcome to the forum" or "Hey, that's a nice looking Octavia, do you have any problems with rubbing seeing as you're on 19's and slammed on H&R Coils?" etc?

Anyway, I hope you'll find that I'm not on here to start arguements and that I'm genuinely interested in Skoda's offerings (even though I run the UK Polo forum... hmm, wonder how that would work? Site admin driving a skoda? lol)

Right, I've said my piece.

i guess most people on here have tried jabba so comment more on jabba

Josh,

I've re-read the 'other' thread on this again this evening. I don't think any Briskodians that posted in that thread were in any way insinuating that Revo *was* snake oil. Both Revo and Jabbasport (and APR as mentioned elsewhere) are respected tuning companies. There was an issue where one member had a problem with the Revo trial code (do a search and you will find it), and maybe it has been that negative publicity that has put Briskoda members off trying Revo.

I don't see why it has to be turned into a competition. At the end of the day, peak bhp figures are meaningless - it's how it translates on the road that matters. Rolling roads don't simulate real-life situations.

So, I don't think Revo is being ignored per se. I think it is merely (as I pointed out in the other thread) that most personal recommendations have been for Jabba, and everyone (I think) has come away pretty happy from Crowland.

As long as everyone is happy with their cars can I suggest that we put this one to bed??

Josh, James, yes welcome both of you. I am more than willing to accept that you are a "normal punter" shall we say,and I am in no way trying to put you off, or disuade you from this board, hell I havent been that long here myself. I was responding shall we say because there has been some "new faces" that have posted with a "commercial bent" shall we say.

They are all a friendly bunch on here, along with some interesting wits, but sometimes people wonder when a new member jumps into the deep end, thats all.

As regards those wheels, I had wondered how you managed to not have them rubbing something, but seeing as I sold my old Octy for a Superb it was nothing that I felt I needed to ask.

Anyway... welcome m8. :smile-l:

im not sure of the wheels to be honest, just looks a bit high. and the wheels look too big for the car IMHO.

but fair play if he likes it thats all that counts

Go on Kenny, ask about his ICE install, you know you want to ;)

Josh,

WELCOME,

Just had a look around the Polo site, Congrats its a very good site, Sorry if you think you had a hostile reception, I am sure that was not intended by anyone, but if you look at the context of the posts:

James 2 posts asking opinions of Revo, then posts pics of his Octavia which has already been Revo'd, then posts a graph for a Revo Fabia. You have to forgive the members for being a little suspicious.

I know who James is, so does Rich1068, As the brains behind the Polo forum based in Sheffield I suspect you do too !!

Why Hide ??

Its starting to look like a REVO double act between you 2

There is no offence meant by anyone here !!

Quite amusing really :D:D

:smile-l:

Graham

ICE install?????? hope your not being funny....lol

i was saying about the wheels!! lol

Kenny, you are never going to live this down! (But I hope you take it the way it is intended)

Re: all this new member, REVO mularky. It was a bad start. Let's just leave it at that.

NEVER???? surely not that long!!!

dont worry, i can take a joke....im used to it already!!! almost!

Revo double-act indeed!

Sorry, I'm purely an interested bystander... I have no interest in 20v T tuning personally as I run a humble 125bhp N/A car! (and my next car is probably going to be a PD of some description)

It's just that I see any ODBII tuning as the way forward, and as an active member of UK-MKIVS.net (MK4 Golf Forum) I have many friends with said engined cars who are more than happy with their Revo software!

Gordon Bennet! I wish I'd have kept my fat mouth shut! ;)

Yes, I do know James.

Anyway, can I go to bed now please? I'm all posted out for tonight!

Glad you like the site... If you know anyone with a Polo, send em my way!

/Shameless advertising!

I think if James would have stormed in here saying "I'm James, come and get your Revo's, roll up, roll up!" he wouldn't have been welcome either... So as he is an owner of a minty fresh VRS I think he should be allowed to be a member of a club without people thinking he's going to try to sell them stuff all the time... He is an owner/enthusiast as well you know!

Night everyone!

NEVER???? surely not that long!!!

Kenny, mud sticks, just ask Jason about his ASR "problems"

thanks guys, least i no where i stand..lol

So do the wheels rub then?

well no they don't the front is no problem and will go 20mm lower, the back however is just on the limit for fast road driving

dampers are at about half way.

:p

In My Opinion

So, they're all the same are they, these 1.8T engines? Bolleaux! They are not. One size does not fit all.

I've looked at those power graphs, and others, and that is what I'd call a "pub chip". Sorry to bang on about it, but its the area under the curves that is important, not the headline figures. I reckon I could get mine to peak at 270 (for about 3rpm). Hmm, makes mine better than yours? I don't think so. I've seen several Jabba ones on RR days, always gets comments about how well the power is held. For example, my peak torque comes in at about 2800 and only starts to drop off at about 5900. Peak power is at just over 6 IIRC. I'm holding just over 1 bar of boost at 5750rpm, with a peak boost of 1.6 bar.

Horses for courses I suppose, but I prefer mine.

PS - 247.4? Is that all? :D
