Help, Satnav update!

Featured Replies

I have a Skoda Octavia vRS 2014, I am struggling to update my sat navigation, I only want to have UK maps if possible as the skoda SD card has only got 7GB.. please help

Buying a larger card will probably be the best way forward.

You can find many examples on the Bay of E place.

16GB / 32GB

The full map for most of Europe won't fit on 16GB.  But if just the UK and a little of Western Europe, then it's around 7GB of size

Hoe long will the 22gb update take in the car?

Unless you have internal Hard Drive, the SD Card will stay in the slot permanently.

So time to load is not applicable.

Getting to basics, maybe best to tell us what infotainment system you have too.

@john999boy FYI: your signature isn't visible on a mobile phone with web view mode on.  Desktop mode on phone browser it shall appear, or in full fat computer browser.

What SD card is bets as i know you can get different speeds?

I think you might need to use branded card, so Skoda/Seat/VW due to the Sat Nav reading a CID signature.

If it's not on the "list" of valid CID's then it will reject you.

Someone will confirm if this is correct for Columbus systems.

Thanks, a quick google search:

You cannot go out and buy just any SD card, they have to be Skoda provided ones as they have hidden coding in them to work with the system.31 Jul 2021

It's not.

Any 'quality' SD card will suffice for a Columbus system. The faster the better though.

If it's a Columbus system it doesn't need an SD card for the sat nav to work. The data is stored on its internal memory. Any SD card of a suitable size will work to transfer the data.

Are you sure it's a Columbus, as you mention a Skoda SD card of 7gb in your first post?

This doesn't apply to a Columbus system

As a fan of maps, though the Sat Nav is growing on me, where can you get an update for the Skoda maps?

My 2015 Octavia was quite insistent that I was 'off road' when I was on the South Devon Expressway yesterday.

Thanks

Note that if your 2015 Octavia has a MIB1 sat nav the latest maps available will be 2020 as new maps are only available for 5 years after last production date, which for the MIB1 systems was mid 2015.
