So I've tried enabling both rear fog lights on my Octavia Estate 2016 Left drive using the steps detailed here on the forum, but I get these errors and not sure what I'm doing wrong. BTW I need to have both lights on in order to register the car with DVS in Jersey, Channel Islands, its a requirement. So if anyone can advise, I would really appreciate. Welcome.

Silly question but does your car have a Fog Light bulb at each side?

I think that VCDS error means your login has expired.

Close VCDS, open car door, close, lock (even if sat inside)

Unlock, open and close door, open VCDS and login to module again before attempting to change codes.

Thanks, hmm that would be very strange as I've only had the VCDS on for maybe 4-5 min until I tried to make the changes. I will try and see if there is any other reason especially i with the 1st error, not my cable just a guy who I found online so I bothered him twice already lol

If you are new to VCDS, you will want to make and save a FULL car scan!

This text file you can save with all your original codings.

I didn't see the message about the uninitialised control module, you can accept the 12345 values, or copy down some from your other modules and use a more legit looking values.

Hi varooom yes very new to VCDS so taking baby steps. I've actually did the 12345 as per the photos attached in the forum thread about VCDS mods - fog lights, unfortunately that didn't change anything IMG_20220722_131001.thumb.jpg.2a8db28c7a39e24e6995ff6f1452f0f9.jpg

Was you able to input the login code?

You may also find yourself locked out for security purposes for a bit (10min?)

Might be an idea for a coffee break, bit of forum reading to allow it to timeout, if locked out.

So no i wasn't locked out or anything like that, login code worked OK and as I said did follow the forum thread re VCDS, just thought someone might have come across this before.

Ok, thanks not my cable so I'd maybe just suggest to the guy re the update.

The update is on your computer - not his cable.

His computer, his cable actually

It could be your computer and his cable too though. 😉

Yes seek permission to update the software, as it will probably flash a new firmware to the cable.

Trying to lookup the fault code, doesn't exactly yield good results, no real clear definitive answer.

Why can't you just wire a link across the boot , I did that some time ago to light both reversing lights and also with a 2 way switch to light the left side or the right side, I used to regularly return to the UK and found the switch ideal

This is the only reference I have found where they say that they got passed the error message:

In regards to the error "Service not supported in active session" doing adaptations I have found that you need to disconnect the session (go back to main VCDS screen) and turn off ignition and wait until the ECU powers down (wait until you hear the main Engine management relay click) and then go back in again..

This may sound daft but most Skoda Octavias are built for left hand drive and have only one fog light bulb fitted. UK spec Octavias have an additional one fitted for right hand drive so although you pointed to the reflector in each tail light cluster are you absolutely sure a bulb if fitted at both locations as your pictures don't show a bulb.

I can bulbs on both sides myself.

Though won't mean a thing if he cannot get the car coded, or feed power to the 2nd fog light.

Pretty sure the mk3 Octavia typically has both fitted and wired up.

Certainly plenty of people including myself have enabled both with just simple coding changes...

All sorted, found a local garage who took 10min, a diff diagnostic tool than VCDS,sorry didn't get the name of it, anyway he's managed to switch my Right fog light on, so all sorted, thanks to everyone who offered some advice, much appreciated

Sorry if this is a silly question but if rear fog lamp bulbs are fitted to each side why are they both not activated? Seems daft to me. My Octavia is up for its first MOT tomorrow and I've been dashing around this afternoon trying to get a replacement because I thought my near side fog had blown.
