Yeti 4x4 EGR Valve needs replacing?

Featured Replies

Hi there, I have a Skoda Yeti 4x4 2012 1.9L Diesel and the warning light for the 'Exhaust Inspection System' has come up on the dash .... I've had a garage run a diagnostic and he claims it's definitely the EGR valve that needs replacing which is going to cost around £400 plus £350 labour...Does anyone out there have any experience of this warning light scenario and whether there are any other causes and solutions ?

I assume you mean a 2.0 TDI 4x4 Yeti since the 1.9 was not fitted to that model.

That's a CRAZY price for EGR replacement, try getting some other quotes, even a main dealer will be cheaper than that.

A Pierburg EGR valve brand new is only £128 on GSF and I wouldn't expect the labour to be even half what you've just been quoted.

I thought it was a pig of a job on the 4x4 variants?

It's a pig if you don't have a four poster, this is a garage we're talking about, not some mental DIY div trying to do it on the driveway!

It's half a days work if you haven't done one before.

I'll have you know that I resemble that comment! 😆

Works better in the spoken word with an outraged voice!

I just got my Skoda Fabia MK2 quote that was 800 from Dynes motors, gonna call around first want warranty on the work.

I'd get them to put a new clutch, flywheel and water pump at the same time, the labour savings would pay for a lot of the parts.

My god my poor bank account lol. Just had the water and cambelt done aswell.

I’d go to Darkside Developments for their delete kit and tune 😎👍🏽

Could anyone out there let me know if they know a garage in the South West that will carry out an EGR deletion and software remapping ?

I don't think that's advisable unless you're going to remove the DPF as well.  The EGR is involved in DPF regeneration.  Removing it is likely to put more load on the DPF.

It doesn't, quite the opposite in fact.
