Error: selector lever...

Featured Replies

Mine is a Octavia IV (petrol electric) SEL estate 21 plate, unsure on month (second hand purchase) but should be first half of the year. I believe it's NX5 also.

Yes I agree they're annoying but not serious.

It was relatively easy to lift it up using plastic to lift & separate it.

I suspect in the lever, one of the microswitches is stuck, meaning the car knows what position it's in from the others that are triggered but is still hi lighting a problem.

I popped into a dealer today and the parts guy said the selector lever module comes fitted with the trim, (at a substantial cost as previously mentioned earlier in the thred). He did say he'd ask his technical department to get back to me if they know of a way of separating it. I Will let you know if I hear anything. Please let us know if you're able to separate out the module yourself 👍

  • That’s mad! I had that on both my MK3s years ago. Can’t believe it’s not fixed yet.

I have the same exact issue.
Followed up with previous tips from the community, and faced this exact problem. Couldn't separate the silver module, which I suspect must be some computing device.

If anybody has any information on how to deal with this DIY I would highly appreciate it.

Hi, so I've taken the centre plate out, and unfortunately it's different underneath than what was posted before.

I've unplugged the cables and removed the combined trim / selector module,

I want to see the selector part number as its obscured. As that's likely the problem part.

I've released the 4x plastic tabs on the side, so it wiggles, but it won't fully release from the plastic housing.

It feels like there's something else retaining it, but obviously don't want to force it.

Any suggestions / instructions somone can point me towards please?

Thanks in advance

Hi! I have this newer version as well. Has anyone found a solution to repair this type of selector?

I'm still dealing with the same problem. From time to time the error disappears, but especially in the summers in hot weather it pops up again.

Although there's no significant in the driving or usage, it's just annoying.

I'd love to know how to fix it DIY.

Nothing’s happened these past few days, despite the heatwave. The 37VQ campaign was a blessing.

i have a 2022 Octavia 1.5 TSI and for the first time , the selector level error appeared on Saturday when i crack start, i restart the car the error gone and didn't happen anymore on Sunday. My car warranty will end in August and since the error didn't appear again, if after the warranty period, how much would be the cost to self repair it?

I just googled the part number and it costs between £250-350.

Even though it may not show up on the dashboard, it logs the error into the OBD log. This means if you take it to the service station, when they connect a odb2 reader they will be able to see the malfunction.

As your warranty is about to end, I would strongly advise you to visit ASAP.

Hello everyone!

Recently I got the same error on the Gearbox and after plugging the OBD11, it seems that I have an issue with the P27F500, which is the Solenoid.

I also found this procedure and tried to follow it, but it seems that the difference that we all saw, is due to the PHEV versions which are a bit different.

I'm curious, have you managed to reach the solenoid? I will dive into it today, and try to take some photos and explain what I've done, IF I manage to find it.

On phev it is much more difficult to access the solenoid, I tried a couple of times but finally got it to dealer to replace the whole unit and after replacement I realized they had to remove the whole tunnel to access it so I recommend not to try it on a phev

Hi again!

So, I managed to reach the solenoid component and bend the little pins to increase the contact. I did a scan on the module and erase the error, and finally got rid of it.

Indeed, the component that hold the solenoid is the last component you can reach after you disassemble the entire central console.

I took some photos, but not with exact steps to follow.

The tools that I needed were prying tools for the trims, T20 and T30, a 10mm socket(preferable a longer one as the screws are a bit longer) and a flat screwdriver to help me with the removal of the different connectors.

I’ll try to explain the steps as best I remember:

  1. Remove the trim with the gearbox selector and the wireless charger with the prying tool and unclip all the connectors.

  2. After that is removed, you have 4 T20 screws, two on each side that you have to remove.

  3. In the front row also, the central console has two “skirts” that needs to be removed. These have one screw each, almost at the extremity near the accelerator pedal(for me, as i have LHD) and on the other side as well. After the screw is removed, pull the skirt to the side and down, they’ll come off quite easy.

  4. Remove the rear usb chargers trim/rear vents with a prying tool. Start from the bottom, there are two clips, one on each side, then go up, and you’ll find two more, one on each side. After that, gently pull from the bottom towards upright and use the prying tool to unclip it from near the armrest hinge.

  5. Once that is removed you will have to remove the duct vent and you’ll be able to reach the 2 T30 screws, that you have to remove. Once that is done, you’ll be able to remove the central console, but you have to unplug the connectors for the parking brake/autohold.

  6. Remove the T20 screw from the front side metal part that provide the 220V current and the two T30 from the back. There is no need to unplug it. You just take it out of the way.

  7. Remove the two T30 screws from the plastic bracket that holds the central console with the 4 screws from step 2.

  8. Remove the duct vent.

  9. Use the prying tool to unclip the keyless module from the upper side. (This step can be ignored i think, as after I removed it, I saw that it wasn’t blocking anything)

  10. Remove the 4 10mm nuts that holds the final plastic part, that cover the module with the solenoid.

  11. Remove the solenoid with prying tools on the clips and gently pull it upward to not damage the pins.

  12. Once you the solenoid, bend the little pins so it makes a better contact with the counterpart.

  13. Everything in reverse order, making sure you don’t force/break anything and you don’t forget about the connectors.
