I cannot wait.....

Its like night and day, no more floating or leaning.. The ride is pretty much the same so thank you spring for breaking, its the push I needed to do it..

Glad you’re enjoying it. Standard springs or lowered as well?

Just stuck with standard springs, height is the same and comfort litlle to no change, in fact its probably more comfortable for a passenger as they dont have the same top heavy type lean

I had a front spring break just after Christmas so had both replaced at the same time. Was planning to go special actives soon so that was the kick I needed to order them on special offer last week, being fitted in 3 weeks (earliest my local Indy can do and not desperate  anyway) - can’t wait to see if it sorts out the ride when pushing on a bit on my local bumpy roads!

I'd be very interested to hear how you find them.  I've been thinking about fitting them to our Karoq 190 TDI for the same reason.

@stupe650

These sound great; are they a direct replacement for the active Monroes? What’s the all-up cost?

When you say active Monroe's do you mean DCC? If so then no they are not a replacement. These have fancy valving that firms up at certain points.

Apologies if you knew all that.

I am convinced mine were fitted wrong. Had springs fitted yesterday and the guy who did it (who I trust) said the shocks were all over the place. Now he's sorted it and fitted the springs it's smooth as butter.

I was expecting it to be more firm as that's what I had with my Octavia. That was one bilstein b6 though so much firmer ride. Still undecided which I prefer. It's only been one ride home with the new springs so it needs more time.

I have them installed with standard springs (it came with raised suspension) and the change from the OEM is important, but I expected more.

On cobblestone streets, the rears are noisy, on the highway at high speed they are fine.

I think that KONI's marketing department is better than the R+D+i department. If I had to change the shocks right now I would go for the Bilstein B6 and if I had to adjust the price go for the SACHS.

Still lovin the new shocks, a bit noisier (creaking etc) but I guess its the arb bushes need some grease....

I didn’t so thanks for putting me straight. 👍🏻

Just realised that my explanation was quite poor so I'll have another brief stab for the benefits of those reading this in the future:

DCC is active suspension controlled by clever sensors that adjusts the valving depending on user settings and the conditions it sees on the road.  These Koni shocks are passive in that they don't have electronics attached but do have special valves that respond to different conditions.  Similar mountain bike shocks which soften when hitting a sharp bump, these will have stiff damping in cornering and braking but change to a different damping circuit when a sharp hit is detected allowing it to move through the stroke faster to absorb the hit.  Then it returns to the firm setting to provide the sporty feel.  I believe the koni technology differs from other by using multiple circuits rather than blow off shims.  In theory it offers a more reliable damping on the high speed setting rather than relying on the fully open blow off.

They are a drop in replacement for any standard suspension of any ride height.

I also thought they were aftermarket DCC compatible. And we’re the only ones I’d heard of that in that sense. Are there no options for replacing DCC shocks with non-OE that do the same thing? Though given the leaking that changing them was par for the course

Bilstein make a b4 and b6 that are both DCC. Damptronic I think they call it. Koni SA are definitely NOT DCC. Although if you get a set of gadgets (bilstein also make them) you can fit regular shocks to a DCC car. You obviously lose the function though.

Update: had them fitted today, drove a few miles across town and through traffic (all felt good) then went for a spirited blast on some of the bumpier straight roads near me - definitely vastly improved control over the bumps without the increasing oscillation that used to occur when going over successive bumps at speed.

initial impressions are that it was money well spent.

I’ve a failing front hub bearing in mine at the minute at 27k. I’ll be fitting a new one along with front B6’s at the same time.
If interested I’ll let you know how the car rides after I get it sorted as it has DCC
think the B6 damptronics are about £300 each for the fronts. Rears haven’t arrived yet and still showing an April/May delivery.

@UndertheRadar have a look at the damptronics. I while back when they were a bit newer to the market the B4 and B6 were the same inside with the B6 having firmer damping. The B6 certainly lacked the monotube design of the standard version. They may have changed that now as I was looking about 4-5 years ago.

Yes please, that’ll be great. 👍🏻

Ended up fitting front and rear B6 damptronics as they all arrived in at once. I have them running on standard factory springs. I replaced the top mounts with Bilstein mounts and fitted an OEM mount bearings.
the difference is night and day. It is slightly firmer, but in a much more controlled and still very comfortable way. It has removed the dive and clunking from the front end, and has honestly made the car seem quieter on the road all round. I can now actually use comfort without it feeling like a cross channel ferry in a storm.
the car drives now like it should have from the factory.
I still have/had a very slight noise from the roll bar bushes, which have been greased for now, and I’ve ordered an H&R front roll bar as they claim their Teflon coated bushes eliminate the issue without the need to grease at all.
We’ll see how that goes when it arrives in, and I get a chance to get the car back on a ramp.

Without a doubt and after 7000 kms with Koni special active installed, I think I should have ridden the B6s.  For the next time.
