The "Glitters" chronicles continue. . . .

In few days i will make an inspection to the new expansion tank and let's hope that i won't find anything.

In country yes, as i said i have done it in the past but in City it's very difficult. All the videos from this work are in a garage-country home-repair shop.     Nah, i am going

An 50Km tyest today with high temperatures, in the end i opened the cap and look inside. Still some tiny black grains (no glitters) hovering inside the expansion tank but i could expect for everything to be ''crystal clear" since the car is 24 years old.

After few months i will make an inspection again to see if there is any muck on the side walls.

Why couldn't you have done the more thorough cleaning I put up for someone else now for yourself, whilst you were back home on vacation and not working on a city street?

I don't have HEPU G12 with me now.

I meant why didn't you wait until now, when you are at home on your vacation and not working on a city street, and do the cooling system cleaning more thoroughly and G12 refill yourself rather than paying someone to do it whilst you were in the city?

Gear oil change, gear rubber bushing change and coolant flush in the same day at the repair shop.

Fair enough but you could/would have done a more thorough job of changing the gear oil and cleaning the cooling/heating system and possibly rubber bushing than most garages/mechanics, if only because you own the car and really care about it.

I took some photos this afternoon, i shed some light with a led pocket lighter and i saw that still there is some sort of muck stuck in the bottom of the expansion tank.

It's not on the walls, is in the bottom where there is a hole which send via hose coolant in the radiator, the cap is very clean, no detritus at all.

I didn't had a long screwdriver or similar tool to scratch that muck to see if it's ''removable".

I have to admit that i am a bit disappointed, i thought that the whole content of the expansion tank would be almost clear.

It's not bad at all, it is almost all clear, forget it after all what can you do about it.  I'm not surprised at this very minor stuff given your actions actions but it's not that bad at all, many cars of the age might be a lot worse, if your coolant temperatures are good then "don't sweat the small stuff".

Here some photos from the side.

For sure it's not ''perfect'' but tall the previous expansion tanks were in terrible condition.

I think I can see one small speck inside and some small deposits on the cap seal and then just coolant, looks more than reasonable to me.

I forgot to check my father-brother car when i was on vacation to check if there are any black spots on their expansion tanks.

100% stock cars, nothing aftermarket and normal use no Sport style.

You could get black spots/areas just off what can grow in such places of condensation/damp.  Plus of course anything dislodged from previously being inside the engine or cooling heating system parts, either from cleaning, flushing, change of coolant or just use of engine.  Might even be debris that was formerly in the engine bay or garage, off mechanic's gloves or dirty wipe rag, and other stuff I can't think of now.  Put a swab in there and remove it and forget about it.

the system is self-cleaning

You will never remove all deposits, you should understand that?

If you say so, this way.

The first filter has a wire mesh too?

I found something similar:

In-Line Coolant Filter Radiator Hose Filter Kit for 1 1/2" hose

image.thumb.png.721dfa0734777e10cbf0f16a3defea78.png

If you are installing on a dual heater application you will need to install two filters one before each heater core.

The coolant filter needs to be installed into the inlet hose of your heater core and is easy to install.

Now the great debate is where it would be fitted.

Hm...before the heat core of after the expansion tank?

Update: From a today's 20/1/2025 inspection

also there are some ''glitters" on the left and right (upper) side of the tank but for sure not so much as the beginning.

The only consolation in this case is that there are no ''glitters'' in the bottom of the expansion tank where is the hole that via a hose the coolant goes to the radiator.

This is not a surprise or unexpected as you weren't able to do full flushing, cleaning and emptying of the whole of the cooling/heating system so liquid and solid residues would have been left in and less diluted.  Unless it builds up excessively it's not a concern.

Yes i didn't remove therostat housing, water pump, radiator etc for a thoroughly cleaning.

No time and mostly i needed at least 2 days in the repair-shop so this could meant a lot of money.

You Greeks more upset today, the other was having a go at me too. 😆  I've never put anything about removing thermostat housing and water pump and I wasn't getting at you for not fully flushing and cleaning just stating, as I think I did before this, that it was inevitable you could get this residue.

I've no idea why you couldn't have done the job yourself more thoroughly than a 'repair shop' (garage to UK) when you were on holiday at home in the mountains but I don't live your life only you do.  You are a robust ex-serviceman so I don't treat you in the same way as a young fella of delicate disposition and I'm sure you wouldn't want me to.  You had to leave some crud in the system and some of it would end up in the new tank, it may be more than you were expecting and/or want but it's not bad or the end of the world.  Take the tank off and clean it and it may satisfy you for a while or perhaps no more gets there, time would tell.
