It sets the memory for stop/start and lane assist

I like the idea of turning lane enforce off permanently. Turning off "randomly slam the brakes on" seems more useful than turning off stop/start.

  • also interested, start and stop is one of the most anoying thing ever created in the human history 😁

  • Ballcocks! A mate of mine taxied a Superb with Stop/Start in urban traffic and the battery lasted 3 years before the Stop/Start ceased to operate.

  • ^^^^ rubbish on killing new batteries in 12 months.  There will be plenty here that do not just switch off stop start when they start a trip and have batteries lasting the period of the Manufacturers

I think we have finally cracked it!!

I ordered one of these last week from Burteq in Chechia.

https://burteq.com/products/octavia-4-memory-module?variant=48608674808132https://burteq.com/products/octavia-4-memory-module?variant=48608674808132

I installed it today and followed the instructions like disconnect the battery first and expect loads of scary faults on reconnection! I have only driven it a couple of times but it seems to be working!!

It sets the memory for stop/start and lane assist when they are disabled via the touchscreen. I haven't tried the driving mode or forward assist as they don't bother me but the stop/start was massively frustrating.

It took about 15 minutes to install on my 2023 octavia VRS diesel estate, quite fiddly due to the position of the module but really straightforward after watching the video.

Here is to just getting in a car and driving it again without having to reprogram it before every journey!!

I quite fancy it, but I have a manual and it states right at the end of the description that it's best suited to DSG vehicles as clutch pedal gets in the way of installation 🥹

I managed to disable the start/stop function on a Skoda Octavia MK4. The start/stop function can be permanently disabled or re-enabled via the central unit (radio).

I did not need to unlock the SFD for the procedure.

I am not sure which bit I enabled, but you can check and answer on this forum.

Hello @Perb_bug,

Can you give us more details?
1. What engine type is running on this car?

2. Can this option work on E-TEC variants too?
3. What production year is this car?

Cheers.

The rough data of the car is: Škoda octavia MK4, year of manufacture 2021, Diesel 2.0, 150hp, dsg gearbox, year of manufacture 2021.

Few months ago, I connected ali express SScable, and “bricked” the car. After towing to dealer, they said it was triggered CP in BCM module. So they needed to connect car to skoda servers and redownload parameters to all modules. Nothing was burned just re programed again..happy to be in warranty.

Definitly I will invest in this burteq solution, because dsg and ss just dont go togheter in small town district with hundred short streets with stops and roundabouts….

I see the Burteq web site also says "off road use only. It is not road-legal and cannot be used on public roads."

It appears to be a little difficult to remove the device in the event of an RTA before plod arrives.

Do you really think they’re going lay on they’re back in the footwell and look for a small black box that looks like a relay buried under the dash?

Of course not, they are going to put it onto the back of a flat bed and let the teams back at the garage pour over it - the question is whether you will be able to remove the evidence before that happens.

sorry for the bump,

i recently got the Burteq memory module for Octavia mk 4 https://burteq.com/products/octavia-4-memory-module?variant=48608674808132 based on the recommendations in this thread,

and had it installed - it works perfectly. it basically saves your current settings (drive mode, start-stop on/off) and resets them every time you open ignition.

i had it professionally installed, the installer told me its connectors are of high quality.

it also features "service mode" in which you can easily disable the module with 9 clicks on a single driving mode

Out of interest, is your car auto or manual? Cos i read that they're quite tough to fit on manual cars, which mine is, but fancied one...

it's auto DSG7 . yea they mention in the module's description about the clutch pedal complicating the installation.

it took the installer about 5 minutes to hook it up, after watching their installation video .

also, didn't have to drive much to clear dashboard errors (after reconnecting the battery) - only turned the steering wheel full turn to both sides, "drove" like 10 meters and all errors were gone

what did you use ? VCDS ?

@zorglub

Yes this is done by vcds, but its poor explained and I ask myself why.

Whole world uses hardware to disable it, or sw possibility is only to rewrite ecu to disable SS.

Not obd11 or vcds….or someone prove me wrong on MQB 2024.

I have found modules but didnt disable it..just due not to trigger CP or some unknown state of car.
