Volume keeps turning up??

After reading all of the comments, I also decided to elaborate on the topic, and to see if there is some kind of update regarding this issue with Octavia MK4 model.

Basically, after buying as used car sometime in September 2024, car started increasing volume, restarting Infotainment system, and one day after work my wife could not start the car (some people from work told her that car was playing music on max volume for quite a while, so this is how we found out that it started Multimedia on its own). Battey drained completely so it needed to be changed. I got to a authorized service and they gave me replacement MMI, “which didn’t have that issue”, to test it some days. After no issues for 9-10 days, they ordered new MMI.

Infotainment display was changed sometime in December 2024 and I had no issues until 2 months ago, when after washing my car, volume started increasing again on its own. It was random, like previous time, but this time I didn’t have issue with MMI restarts nor starting MMI while car engine is not running - only volume up issue. Volume bar below the display was not changed at all.

Since I was still in warranty period of previous replacement, I contacted Skoda and they ordered a new Infotainment display - only asked for video as proof to factory. I sent it, and no additional questions asked (kuddos for that). Month later, new MMI came and I got a call to get it replaced (in the meantime, I didn’t experience any issue for a month! Nevertheless, I got it changed, and moved on as usual.

Couple of days ago, I went for a short vacation and left the car at the airport parking lot - and you imagine the stress of car not recognizing the key… Then, I thought it was the battery. But the key was giving a red light when pressing the buttons.

Anyway, 2 hours later, found somebody to start my car with cables and it got me going (Start/Stop option was not available, and bunch of yellow signs, but could be driven - 3 hours ride, no sign of volume, or any similar thing).

Since it’s weekend, I still didn’t have a chance to get it diagnosed in the Skoda service, however I wanted to write the post for all, due to the fact that my new MMI is actually H49, praised by some of you. I hoped it was not H49 - as this seemed like light at the end of the tunnel, but after checking, my new Infotainment replaced a month ago is H49 (picture attached).

Are there any news or developments, or any device that some of you might have?

PS. I suppose I will need to change the battery, but I managed to start the car with the same battery 3-4 times this morning.

The last issue you had sounds more like a bad/old battery problem. I'am still holding on H49 no problems so far (1yr since replacement).

Keep monitoring the issue.

Hello, I removed the connection cable socket of the multimedia sound touch bar. I only control the sound from the steering wheel.

My System started acting up on the volume/power sensor as well today when i went to work.

Fun ride to work constantly fighting the screen turning itself off and on again the entire trip. When i came back home everything was normal...

I might have to disassemble it to clean with isopropyl alcohol soon

Hello, I advise you to use a glasses cleaning cloth to avoid leaving any residue.

I did, with cotton swabs for the edges, i already reassembled everything and it seems to be working fine, i have to keep checking at night as well when it gets colder. I did turn on the AC with the car running on full cold and it didn't do any ghost touches like it did before.

It was a fun day though, was going out for lunch and the car wouldn't start because the battery was low on charge, jumped started the car with my dad's car, the battery charged fine, held charge fine, went to a car shop 30 minutes away, they diagnosed the battery and said the report came out completely fine, so i'm pretty sure it was the infotainment turning on and off during the night and day while the car was parked with the AC and everything. It has to be this because i've noticed that since the power button started acting up, the car wouldn't auto-unlock when i put my hand on the door handle when it was parked for a day.

Today was pretty eventful but i hope the problems are over... Kinda wild how it took 5 years for the power button to start going crazy, must have been humidity from the severe winter rains we had
