Hey guys, I am a little confused ... I bought a dongle way back, and when it went to subs I got free lifetime  VAG Pro account.

But I still have to pay for one click   ? seems odd.

Having read Gizmo's post, perhaps I should do it manually.

Where might I find instructions for making the default "off" for lane assist for a Scala ?

Does it do everything VCDS can?

don't waste your money buy the trusted & established alternative product.

obdeleven vag Ultimate are charging money for either Alpha testers or a Lithuanian data harvester. 1st time I have paid full price to be an Alpha (or Beta) tester in 20yrs ,oop's I have had my leg lifted

I have tried very hard to use their interface & vag software inc numerous email conversations with them.

will no function at all without internet connection, not even a basic system scan,

every time try to use always constant connection problems ,2 different  android tablets (1 New out of box) & different locations used.

one the single occasion of full connection 25mins to scan  1st 6 controllers in scan list.

obdeleven tech support virtually non existent.

if this really is vag licensed i'm rather shocked tbh

no visability as to what if anything is happening & 1 click apps don't link to vehicle build specification & installed features but will write anyway, operations are completely hidden from user, safety net of backup but doesn't always work

not to be excessively critical, nice graphics & pretty interface.

I have a hex+can cable but not sure it will work with my 2020 Octavia so am looking to invest in something else.

Hello ,

you will need HEX-V2  or HEX-NET(adv functions) post 2019 models , to put it simply you can use your interface but for basic things but won't be able to access UDT for coding, that's my experience for what its worth

my interface list

Hex+can usb

Hex-Net HN2

obdeleven vag ultimate ( For sale with a brand new 10" android tablet ) if anyone wants it

I was thinking about getting this, especially with a current 30% off, but €22 to ship a tiny dongle to the U.K.? Now that is a complete rip-off. Order cancelled….

I've been looking at chinesium stuff lately around the £1000 mark 🤔 says they can do coding and keys. But also need something for all makes for use at the workshop.

All you need is Vgate iCar Pro elm327 V2.3 and Car Scanner app for iOS or Android. Believe it or not, it does everything that the other solutions do, including long coding. I have used it on my Kodiaq from 2019. OBDeleven is too expensive for me.

Do you guys think that these type of devices are worth it for a SE trim car? (scala).  I am unsure as I don't think that there is that many things it can do with such a trim level..

What do you want to do, if it's very specific then probably the VCDS system would be best but it is limited to VW products and I think (don't know for sure) sometimes(?) limited to three VINs.  You can look at or asking in the VCDS section, some coding there too, or look at or contact the suppliers/manufacturers if you can't see what you want listed in the sales blurb or in the operating manuals.

What ever system you get before using it each time you need to make sure it is fully updated for your model and year of vehicle.

Generally all scan tools seem to have their good and bad points, personally I think the VCDS presentation on the screen is hideous but I'm not into computers or computer programming at all or remembering legacy system and their numbers (i struggle to remember my age).  Then the stuff from China with the popular names can have some interesting text phrasing and I've seen at least one young lad use one on a job where he was told only a Dealership level tool would do it but his Chinese origin machine did the job without going through loads of menu(s) selections.

You can buy it a 3 VIN version and purchase an extension to 10 VINs or unlimited - depending on your need.

Software updates are free for as long as you own a genuine VCDS cable (so there's no reason not to keep it updated) - current cables are the HEX-V2 (USB only) and HEX-NET (USB and WiFi).

Often down to laziness (dare I suggest particularly with professionals with devices that hold around 150+ different vehicle manufacturers, bit like keeping cordless devices batteries charged so they don't run out half way through a job, or even flat before starting the job).

I went ahead and bought a obdeleven. For £50 it isn't too bad in comparison to whatever the dealers would charge me for any kind of diagnostics or modifications.

This device seems REALLY easy to use. Plug it in and then connect using their app. There are then some set programs you can buy for around £1.50 each.

It is a little bit annoying that I need to buy this device just to turn off the damn lane correct feature but I think it will be worth it as during the test drive I found it extremely jarring for the car to suddenly take control over you.

Beware of using those, you don't know what changes they are making and because Skoda make many running changes you cannot be sure they will do what you want on your car - there have been many posts on here where owners have used one of those and it's caused unwanted side effects.

IMHO always do it the manual way making the changes directly yourself, then if something does go wrong you know how to revert it.

Are Skoda able to make over the air updates to my car? I am not sure that there is that function with SE trim cars.

SE trim level isn't the factor, it's whether the electronics platform is designed with OTA in mind.

The Octavia 3 can't do OTA but the Octavia 4 can - given the design date of the Scala I doubt it can do OTA.

Updates to computer programs, "wot could possibly go wrong!".

Even though I always recommend having up to date programs I do sometimes wonder if sometimes having previous programs/updates might be better being a Microsh*t user I'm used to having to go back to a previous restore to get shot of the latest update that has nothing wrong with the update and it's all my or my computer's fault but has caused an issue.

Another thought, though I dislike the driver "aids" on modern vehicles and really dislike "assist" like lane departure I do wonder what the insurance companies would say if they're made inactive by use of going into the car's computer programs, but I've no idea.

Well we have the option to turn it off when we start the car... We just need to do it every time as it resets itself in-between ignitions.

Yeah same as start/stop or we can deactivate the front "assist" via a menu on the the infotainment, just wonder what would be said if we had a serious incident at the front of the car, I've no idea just wondering.  My neighbour's 2023 Ren-No! Nissan that I drive has some sort of lane "assist" which you can switch on or off but part of it always remains on, just lights up amber and a little nudge on steering wheel and perhaps lift off acceleration (not sure about that) .  I've shown my neighbour a few times how interment that system is, driving down the white line, dum. dum, dum on the cat's eyes and nothing yet a bit further down the road driving in the centre of the lane a leaf on a bush  15 foot back from the road edge flutters and system is startled.  Marvellous wot cump'ters can do.

@headgaarThat sounds interesting! Do you have some OBD apps to recommend that you have used with the Vgate device?

@beneix I use Car Scanner app, available for iOS and Android. It has very good reviews and it never failed me. I can do everything that OBDeleven does. I think I paid 7 euros for a lifetime subscription, but you can do a lot of things even without paying. I think their website is carscanner dot info.

Thanks @headgaar. I am new to the world of OBD; are there many parameters that you can change without having the ability to unlock SFD? I assume to unlock SFD, one needs to have both the OBDEleven OBD connector and their Pro plan. Perhaps you are lucky because your Kodiaq 2019 is old enough not to have SFD lock?
