Acceleration Issues in a 2012 Skoda Fabia

Recommended Posts

The 2012 Skoda Fabia 1.2 petrol engine with 62,000 miles experienced a gapping in the acceleration. Initially, the owner suspected a spark plug issue and had them replaced. However, the problem persisted, and upon further inspection, it was discovered that the ignition coils were burning out after being replaced. The owner is now seeking to understand the root cause of this recurring issue.

Welcome.

The spark plugs expiring can mean the coils expire prematurely.

So changing the spark plugs were maybe due or overdue, but then the coils were needing replaced as well. Job done.

What 1.2 petrol engine is it a TSI or another?

Has it had a fuel filter changed, has it got a nice clean air filter in?

?

Has it been on a diagnostic to see if there are any logged fault codes?

2012 1.2Tsi will be Ea111 cbzb/cbza engine.

In this case:

The problem is one or more plug leads have failed open circuit. Usually no.3 lead, but could be others as well. This leads to excessive voltage at the coilpack which flashes over internally or externally and eventually fails as well.

The leads are suppressor type 9kohm iirc with carbon coated threads as the conductor material. No.3 leads sits directly over the exhaust/turbo heat shield and fails due to excessive temperatures.

The ignition system is a wasted spark design which means that plugs fire in pairs every rotation of the crank plug pairs. Twice as frequent as conventional ignitions and with consequences of uneven plug wear.

catalytic converter is broken in the car . Additionally, the filters that clean the fuel haven't been replaced; only the fuel pump was changed.
