Roof rack compatibility

Ah forgive me - I did not know of the English term - I’m guessing roof bars would be correct.

You need to tell us brand and part numbers of what you have so it can be cross referenced.

I'm guessing this would be the part number: 565071151

The brand is Skoda

Looking at the official Skoda parts page here - I can see that what differs this from the one for Superb isn't much, same length, width and height, only that it's about 300grams heavier

The difference will be in the feet that attach to the car.  If both cars use the same rail design and the distance between the feet is adjustable, you should be able to fit them to either car.

I have a set of Kodiaq roof bars - part number 565 071 151 - and the fitting instructions booklet also lists them as compatible with other models but with slight variations on the part number. These being:

658 071 151 Kamiq (NW4)

57A 071 151 Karoq (NU)

565 071 151 Kodiaq (NS)

6V9 071 151 Fabia combo (NJ5)

3V9 071 151 Superb combo (3V5)

5E9 071 151 Octavia combo (5E5)

by my reckoning same bars fit various models, Skoda just choose to change the part number slightly.

If the P/N changes, it's highly probable this is a different part and thus non compatible.

First 3 characters correspond to the car model. 071 151 remain the same because it has the same function (roof bars here).

For instance, all wheels have a P/N using AAA 601 025 BB format, where AAA stands for car model (as in your example) and BB corresponds to the rim model.

But all wheels are not the same, they can't be swapped on any other car just like that.

A slight change in part number does not equate to a slight change in part! Not in the slightest!

The first 3 digits are the compatible car 565 for kodiaq, 3V0/3V5/3V9 for different superb body types.

The whole point of the MQB platform is cross compatible parts so if they did fit they would keep the same part number.

Please don’t fit a non compatible set of roof bars, no one wants a crash from roof bars and it’s load flying off.

While this subject is still warm, anyone with Thule "aero" or also normal, bars could measure how long their are, and/or post some pic of how they look?

The idea is to see if my bars are compatible, I've used them first on my A6, then on the RR, every time I replaced only the 'foot packs' with the appropriate ones. Now that I think, is also time to "evacuate" them from the garage ...

But if the bars are of the same size I could use them on the Superb 😊

The always excellent site of roofbox.co.uk gives for all three cars 118cm (and I know 2 out of 3 are right), but I ask anyway 🤪

i bought roof racks for my Octavia RS MY11 lift-back back in 2015.  Whilst i sold my Octavia RS, i kept the roof racks which work perfectly well on my current Superb MY17 lift-back.

i had to widen the width of the rack feet, but the feet mounts fit nicely, and lock in solid.

so despite being completely different era/platform - the mounts were compatible between the two lift-backs.

i can't comment about wagons/SUVs.
