That seems extremely high for an independent, even my local Škoda dealership will do my 1.6 TDI’s belt and pump for about £950… I don’t know how that Indy can justify that price.

Can't you get one of the lads to do a govvy job? Probably take about 2.5-3 hours to do, parts maybe £200-250

I could have done it for you half price and been paid well. Shame your in Kent 😆

That's the sort of price I've seen talked about for the 1.5TSi petrol, which is a much more complicated job.

Having said that, there's a thread on the Ateca forum where a poster (in Derbyshire) has been quoted £495 by an indie and £640 by a SEAT dealer (for the 1.5TSi).  So the diesel should be cheaper than that.  Water pump on the diesel adds a bit though, as it's a switchable one.

Seems cheap for the 1.5 as you need to get the cam angles right, I know the diesel pumps well. Put an aftermarket one on a while ago and it was broken from the get go. Car overheated once you got to high speed. Switched for a genuine and all was ok.

@Roryquotes from Independents that do not even know the difference between a 1.4 TSI or 1.4 TSI ACT or a 1.5 TSI ACT can lead to quotes that does not mean they are going to be spending the hours required, with the parts at the price they are and using the expensive equipment needed to do a 1.5 TSI ACT cambelt.   £750 is possible with none genuine parts and there are some even main dealers that honoured mis-quotes.
