I forgot to mention in the how-to-guide about the dashboard trim piece that needs to b changed, ideally, though it's not noticeable from the inside the car.... unless u look behind the screen, or through the windscreen.

Whilst I'm not a 100% sure yet, as I'm still researching, I think I need version E of the trim piece.

My current part number is 3V2858418 NH1 (Brushed Metal).

I think I need to get 3V2858418E NH1, which has a smaller opening profile behind the screen.

My theory, with pre-facelift, is:-

- MIB2 with 8" screen uses 3V2858418 NH1

- MIB2.5 with 9.2" screen uses 3V2858418E NH1

However I'm having trouble sourcing one secondhand as most r black from Sportline models.

These r the options:-

3V2858418E HQ1 - gloss anthracite

3V2858418E NH1- brushed metal

3V2858418E NF8 - satin black

If u have a LHD model, it will b 3V1.  RHD is 3V2.

As soon as I find out for sure, I'll update this post.

Thank you very much for the guide.

Does the new screen has some higher resolution, brightness or better graphics ?

the vw / octavia / kodiaq screens all use the same C9D2 decryption key ?

yes, the 9.2" screen has a much higher resolution.  its more brighter and the clarity is next level.

the C9D2 is not a screen thing - its a MIB software installation change thing.

even doing a normal firware update will require this last step.

Been a week now since the MIB2.5 conversion and screen upgrade.  Here r my initial observations:-

- the 9.2" screen has a much higher resolution.  its more brighter and the clarity is next level

- the infotainment start up is a lot quicker than before

- the screen feels more responsive.

additional features gained from the conversion:-

- split screen home screen.  really handy to see 3 different screens at a time.  i've set mine to Nav (main), Vehicle Status (top right), Audio (bottom right)

- screen background matches background ambient lighting

- Seats assistance in the menu to enable driver's seat access aid

- grid view of menu options

- clock on standby, or screensaver mode

for some reason golf/passat 9.2' displays are much cheaper than superb.

but they have different buttons on the side and the frame is completely different.

will it be possible to fit such display to superb somehow?

can be the frame bought separately?

That will NOT physically fit in the Superb.

The Skoda 9.2" screen does not have a seperate frame or trim surround.

Likewise, u can't buy the 9.2" screen from the Kodiaq and expect it to physically fit in the Superb.

Check price for 3V0919606E on Aliexpress - this is from Chinese version of Superb, I had 3V0919606D and now I have 3V0919606E - all same.

for the purposes of closure/completeness, the final piece of the puzzle was done - the centre dash trim piece.

So 6 months later after converting my MIB2 unit to a MIB2.5 unit, I finally managed to get my hands on the centre dash trim suited for the 9.2" Columbus screen.

MIB2 trim piece - 3V2.858.418.A

MIB2.5 trim piece - 3V2.858.418.F

The swap out process was relatively easily.  Removed the screen first, then unclipped the old trim piece.

I was unable to disconnect the ambient lighting strip connector as it was deep inside the dash trim and there was no way of getting to it!!

So I unclipped the actual LED board and clipped it on to the replacement trim piece.

Job done.

There is two of them.  One shoots light from inside to left, and the other from inside to right.

@JR RS hi man, i cannot send you a private message as i do not have enough "experience" on this website. I am really in need of Gracenote2_AIO_payload and MHI2_ER_SKG13_P4526_1_AIO_MU1440, i bought the 9.2 inch display for over 2 weeks now and i still cannot access mibsolution.one in order to download them. Could you please help me and send those to me if you still have them? Thank you in advance. The website is down, both mibwiki and mibsolutions actually

Yeah, not sure wat happened to the mibsolution site.

Let me see if I can share the files via my OneDrive public folder....

I dont really know where to find your public onedrive,i have searched it on your profile in the last 10 pages of messages but no success. Would appreciate if you could announce me with a message here if you still have those files when you upload them. Thank you for your help, that tutorial is great work.

@JR RS Do you still have those files mate? Sorry for asking maybe too much im kind of desperate for them

@JR RS yeah, so I did upgrade using AIO software I got from a guy on reddit, but someone told me there is no problem in using Gracenote2 EU-v23-0010-1.1.1.2934-20230223.zip as Gracenote, not the AIO Payload that u mentioned in the tutorial, and it was someone who is doing these kinds of conversions. Ofc I got an error on installing on Gracenote, error code 134. However the sytem is now functional. Thank you for uploading the files. My question would be now if I can somehow update just the Gracenote via a SD card. Is it possible? Or do I have to just do a system update just I did in the conversion with the AIO software and gracenote from you? And other than that i do have a few more questions about the AIO software, is it okay if I send them here in a message and if you want you could answer to them in the next 1-2 weeks? Thank you!

@Codrut20171 - the G11 to G13 AIO instructions on the MIB GitHub state to use the specified Gracenote payload.

I'm not sure how or if it's possible to load that on its own.

Sure thing - happy for u to send me a PM or post in this discussion.

Someone told me its enough to just update the database via sd card(put those 3 folders in the root of the sd card). I will try and let you know here,so if someone encounters this again they ll know what to do.

Hy can you tell me, what is issue if I just connect mib 2.5 to my skoda superb mk3 2017 without update what you make, is one of issue to dont have picture dark screen on my 2.5 display or when I plug it screen shood work? On my car now is mib 2 columbus 8" with 2x micro sd slots 1x dvd and 1x sim card slot on harman device. THANK YOU

  • Author

the 8" screen for an MIB2 will not work with MIB2.5 unit - u'll get a blank screen, no display.

during the upgrade process, the screen turns blank, at which point u have to swap the display to the 9.2" to continue/complete the upgrade.

  • 3 weeks later...

Hello,

I did the upgrade and everything works fine, besides one thing:

The Background doesnt change with the ambient lights. Its always grey. What did I do wrong?

Skoda Superb 3 2016

Could it be because the G13 unit was launched when VW already switched to 10/30 colors from the old 3 colors list?

Also, does anything change in the dash( normal one, not aid) when you change ambient color in the infotainment?

Nope, nothing changes. On MIB2 my dash also didn't change.
