Dashcam Installation

Featured Replies

Hello, i would like to know how to neatly secretly hide cables for my hardwired dashcam ( 1 in front and 1 on the rear ) i know i gotta take off some trims but i dont know how ( A pillar for example, ) and how to tap the fuses for both accessory and battery power, im gonna attach the fuse mapping i made today, in red are the fuses that CANNOT or are not avaiable to be tapped, in yellow are the preffered ones

Or buy a Black Vue Conecta switch and power it from the diagnostics socket. Works great in my Audi.

yeah no that wont work, the siagnostic socket is already occupied

Ah. Great on my Audi though - always powered if you want it to be or switchable power off to protect the battery if you want to leave it on while parked - such a simple solution.

Yeah, is there a kit that uses the obd port for power only and then on top of the adapter, another obd port to Connect diagnostics?

No idea, Chris !

Just use the rear wiper fuse with a piggyback carrier as supplied with the Nextbase hardwire kit, has worked fine in our 2016 since we installed it on delivery. Simple install 🙂

Should have said fitting, remove/loosen the door seals and pop the window frame cover with a plastic pry, feed the cables (careful not to impede the airbag route) connect to the fusebox, test and then refit the covers and door seal, really simple. 🙂

Hi, sorry I missed this, I removed the panel at the rear hatch then used the rubber bellows to route the cable .... feeding the cable through the bellows between the body and the hatch was a PIA, but unclip the bellows and work slowly and carefully and it was all good, I used a short cable fish to pull it through then coiled the excess cable in the rear hatch before replacing the trim (figure of 8 to avoid electrical issues.)

Hope that helps 🙂
