Whats the most up-to-date software?

Getting the SOS pop pop, so trying to update the SW to see if this solves the issue.

Links with files will be much appreciated!

Upgrading software of the infotainment unit is unlikely to help. Others have fixed this by replacing the SOS module or upgrading the SOS module firmware. Your dealer will have had plenty of experience fixing this fault......

the dealer was the one that said a software update should fix it, which was what put me on 1941 (costing me £250 btw)

looks like SOS module will have to be swapped. Do you know a rough price for that,

But did the dealer say whether it was a software update to the SOS module or the infotainment - they're completely different software controlled modules.

Your Octavia probably has at least 20 (often many more) software controlled modules, so you cannot assume that quoting the infotainment software version is relevant to faults in other modules.

It was both - I specifically asked for the SOS module to be updated too, which on the invoice they gave me, it’s listed as being done.

I had the software on the SOS module updated and it solved the issue for me. I didn't need any hardware to be swapped out. My SOS issue was resolved well before 1941 infotainment software came out.

Your dealer should've seen this issue plenty of times, and know what the resolution is. However, this seems to be another case of a customer enters a dealer with a well known issue yet the dealer plays 'dumb' on the matter.

Is there any way to check the SOS firmware version?

would be interesting to see if they actually updated it or not.

saying that, I’ve also heard lost of cases where the OCU being replaced was the resolution that worked

There is, but I think in all cases it requires you to buy some software to do it. Others on the forum will be far better placed than me to comment on what's required. Maybe you could get the dealer to provide you with a printed list of the software versions your car is currently at.

I think in early cases of issues with the OCU it was swapped out, as software updates were not working. Skoda took my car back for about 6 weeks around 2 years ago as they wanted to understand why software updates were seemingly "not applying" correctly to early cars. They got the dealer to update the modules on my car, and then reset it to factory defaults and re-coded everything on the car. Since then it's been fine. So they decided that on some modules with early firmware, the configuration was not applying correctly after a firmware update. The resolution was to update the module, erase it and reapply the config.

Im with ya.

On the invoice it simply says "SOS MODULE SOFTWARE UPDATE - Carried out and configured software".  Nothing about a version or anything (They did update the main software though, so i am inclined to at least hope the SOS software was also updated.

To be honest i think im **** out of luck here - i do have a warranty on the car with a 3rd party, but they require me to pay for the diag out of pocket, which right now i am not in a position to do after paying £250 for software updates i was told would work!

Have you tried going back to the dealer to query it? You've paid for a software update which has not fixed the issue. If you don't get any joy maybe speak to another dealer, or send the Skoda Executive Office an e-mail? Appreciate it's more hassle for you - but this is a well known issue, that was resolved for most people quite a while ago.

In my case they tracked it down to antenna and are changing it. I've seen others here mentioning the same.

There are no SW updates without a diagnostic first. It should have been included in those 250 you paid. Furthermore, since you paid for a solution which did not work out, they should diagnose it again for free. Just simple common sense, and at least in EU that would be unlawful to do otherwise.

On the same note, when I had a weird electrical issue, I went to another workshop (though the same dealer chain) and there another technician just sat down with me with the full print from diagnostics, showing all data for all modules in the car and a bunch of other stuff. Not an expert to say what exactly there was, but such a heap of papers. So he showed me what he did not like and what was updated. I mean, it is extremely rare and I had such experience for the first time, but yet thorough approach is possible and perhaps everyone should insist on having the same. Usually it is difficult to get beyond reception folks, who are always clueless, but still...

Hardware: H56

Still on software 1896.

Why am I not getting the more up to date software? My infotainment and safety systems are going crazy for months and I have had no major update for over a year.

I don't want to try and update the system myself in case I break it altogether or is that my only option now?

Anyone advise?

I updated myself straight from 1896 to 1985. Just follow the step by step instructions provided in the download topics carefully and you should be fine. Helps to familiarise yourself with the procedure before going ahead. So long as you follow each step carefully, as explained, then you shouldn't encounter any issues. Hundreds of users here have done the same thing, don't think I've ever encountered a post whereby someone has "bricked" their car, but obviously it is a risk unless you follow correct procedure.
