Opinion on potential Karoq purchase (AutoTrader Link contained)

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I've made a couple of posts here regarding us looking at a Karoq to replace my wife's rather old VW Polo.

Trying to stick to our budget (of around £12k including us hopefully getting around £2k for the old vehicle) - we've been looking at what is available most weekends. We've seen this one:

I just wondered if the experts in this forum might be able to give us their option on Spec & Price?

Obviously you're not looking at it, so you've got no idea of condition - that bit is up to us!

MOT record seems acceptable. Seems to have had 3 owners from new which seemed a little high.

Also, advert says "1 key". How much are you looking at getting a second key and coded for one of these?

Your opinion is certainly important to us - even if this one isn't still available at the weekend, it helps us gauge what we should be looking for and at what kind of price.

It does have to be Auto. I tend to take mileage over age.

Cheers All.

Provided the seller hasn’t deleted it its always worth looking at the Driving Data history; since start, last refuelling, overall. The avg speed, distance, mpg can give some insight into usage especially when linked to mot mileages. 7 yrs old personally I’d want to see a recent cambelt replacement or get price reduced to cover it. Regular annual oil and filter changes are important.

I meant to include a comment about only 1 key too. Definitely ask the seller why there is only one, if it’s a dealer they will have knocked the seller down because of the missing key in order to cover the cost when it’s sold because everyone wants 2 keys.

The problem with the missing key, other than the expense getting a new one is security.

If the previous owner (or some one connected) still has the key then they can open the car and drive it. Obviously,

The other problem is the Users can use the Skoda app and track the car.

If your car gets stolen will the insurance pay out if the thief could track, open and start the car with the app and key?

I have no idea on this but it is worth checking.

At the very least you will need to erase all users and start by re-registering the keys and and Primary User (deleting all others)

My insurance requires me to produce two keys, if car is stolen. This relates to kessy cyber theft, rather than breaking into house and finding key fob, of course.

Ouch! Though, that serves as a warning to us all.

Both my keys (and a spare on for PN18 USJ :-) ) are kept in an RFID pouch all the time, except when driving. Once you get into the habit, it becomes second nature. Out of car, press lock, pres handle within 2s to turn off Kessy and keys in pouch in pocket. The Wife has the other key in an RFID pouch in her purse.
