Cannot Remove Radio

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I just recently picked up a Skoda Superb 2017 SE L Executive and I'm in the process of retrofitting a reverse camera.

I am, right now, just looking to test out the camera to see if it is plug and play.

I have opened the glove box and I have used radio keys to pull the radio out however the radio does not come out all the way.

It is like the cable is too short - so instead I lowered the glove box door but still this gives no access.

I have moved onto removing the entire compartment (not just the glovebox) but I cannot seem to find out what screws to remove as no matter what ones I remove it is still not coming down.

I have removed four from the top of the glove box area and one that I access from the side panel (which was really awkward and may not even be related).

I have attached an image pointing to where I removed the four screws from the glove box and one from the side panel.

I cannot get to the radio wires without removing this (and I am aware of the air bag cables etc) but just cannot get this panel off.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Is it not this one?

Thanks for the reply.

I have watched this video and it is the only other person I can find with the same issue. However in the video he does not show what screws he removed. He shows the top four but then just says "two to three more" and it cuts to him having the part removed.

I've been looking now for the last 2 hours with no luck.

Have you took the glovebox away?

I actually finally got this.

The extra screws require you to get under the footwell and look up. There are 2 - one on the left and then right.

For anyone in the future... Afterwards, once I had the dash off, I noticed a cable tie fixing the radio cables to the dash too tightly so I cut it off and it now has slack to be pulled out regularly though you do need to remove all screws to get to that in the first place.

Yep, there’s one cable tie on the loom behind that you have to cut and then there enough slack to pull the unit out. How did you connect the power wire to fuse board? It says to connect to point 18A but I assume this is on the rear of the fuse board?

The reverse camera I got only requires connection to the radio.

It comes with an adapter so that it is plug and play. Not OEM it is from Ali express below:
