Reversing Camera

Featured Replies

Hi All, I have a Skoda Karoq 2.0 SE Drive TDI SCR (Whatever SCR means!) 73 plate. Unfortunately, there is no reversing camera on it. What i would like advice on is; can I get one fitted and is it doable myself - or best through a dealer? The reason I want (or actually need, really) one is because I have three dogs and, when reversing onto the drive, they always keep away from any vehicles - but it's just nice to be able to check that they haven't suddenly had a brainstorm and decided to walk behind the car. Two of my previous vehicles had a reversing camera built in, and I guess I am missing it more now.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I would have thought that the parking sensors would be good enough for that task? My previous Polo had no camera but the sensors would always squeal when one of the zombies in Tesco's car park played the "Lets run behind an obviously reversing vehicle" game. Maybe do some tests with a large stuffed toy if you have one in the house?

Seems to be lots of options otherwise from previous posts, so have a search of the forum. I'd be inclined to get a price from the dealer as a benchmark first.

I have to admit, I can never understand why people think it is fine to walk behind a reversing vehicle (specifically as vision is vastly reduced) and believe they are perfectly safe., yet they won't walk in front of you - even if you are creeping along, and vision is good.🤷‍♂️

I drive a vehicle that even announces to people that it is reversing and they still walk behind it.

Contact one of the OEM retro fit specialists- as the dealer will probably outsource it to them anyway. I have used HazzyDayz in Markyate (J9 of the M1). They will analyse your vehicle before doing anything to make sure they have all the coding necessary and that your vehicle is compatible.

Wow! Thanks for that, thamestrader. they have some great stuff! Looks like it is going to cost me a few pounds. Rear camera, parking sensors on the front.

Wonder if they do "Walk away auto lock" sensors?

I had a quote of £399, from a Seat Main Dealer, to fit an aftermarket (Seat) rear camera to a Seat Ateca last year, before I bought the Karoq.
