What's this for?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

New (to me) late '21 plate Scala SEL.

If I pull down the Control Centre, there's a slider at the top of the screen:

Lights on, lights off, engine on, engine off, daytime, nighttime - moving it doesn't seem to make any difference to anything. What's it for?

Cheers.

The symbol top left would appear to indicate screen brightness control?

That's what I thought, but moving the slider doesn't appear to change anything.

I think that you need to go to settings to change this. May say Low,Medium or high.

Thanks - but it doesn't explain what that slider is for.

My car doesn't have colour-adjustable ambient lighting - could it be that the slider works for that?

Does anyone use the slider, and so know what it does?

The slider should control the instrument lighting brightness.

The infortainment screen brightness is controlled via the headlights. (it dims, or should, when they are on.)

However you might just need to re-boot your system to make the brightness control work. Hold down the power button until the infortainment turns off, a clock normally appears, KEEP holding it until the infotainment restarts. (If you have a touch scree then just keep your finger on the virtual button.)

As said above it is definitely the instrument brightness control - I have exactly the same in my Superb and tried it out one night this week, make sure it is dark outside and you have your headlights on, then move the slider up & down to alter the instrument and control button brightness.

The brightness can also be adjusted from the main screen by going into 'Car' menu then 'Lights' menu, if you change the slider position on either screen it alters the opposite screen, I think the swipe down from the top of the screen is simply the short cut option.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

A little more investigation revealed that the slider has no effect on lighting, and there is no menu for lighting levels in the Car/Settings/Lights menu. Curious...
The car, though used, is new to me, and I will query this with the dealer.

As I said, try a system reboot first. Lots of minor things have a habit of glitching on VAG products. Nearly all can be fixed by rebooting the infotainment if they are controlled via the infotainment.

Thanks for the tip - but no joy.

I didn't expect it to work, as the car was reset to factory settings before I took delivery, just a couple of weeks ago. But it's useful to know about if/when other things go awol.
