Activating SmartLink on Swing 3

Featured Replies

I can confirm that this worked fine for a 2017 Rapid Spaceback with Train MEN2_EU_SKGPx_P7130L. I did have to desolder the EEPROM, because the power LED of my CH341 programmer immediately went out whenever I connected the board through a clamp.

  • Worked perfectly but it was to hard to get it readed the clap is tricky i Have unsoldred and soldred back

  • I think more for a connection by enet cable and telnet unit but need to deep more to know how to access and have only 1 unit so I won’t take adventure to brick it 😂😂😂

I couldn't read the chip because I used an adapter cable and the chat gp told me that it is not possible to read the chip with the adapter cable. I tried several times, but the tweezers didn't want to hook to the chip anymore. Now I'm waiting for the adapter with pins to arrive so I can try it, I'm sad

Forget chat gpt, it Is possible with clamp, I did it, and few more people also...

Yeah I'm sure it works for some, but for me it felt like it was trying to back-power at least parts of the radio unit through the programmer which obviously doesn't work :) Maybe there are different hardware variants out there.

I do wholeheartedly agree on not trusting a language model on quite specific electrical engineering...

@Zlatko580 Did you read the memory using a 25256 or a 95256 programmer? Is it possible to read a 95256 without desoldering it?

  • Author

I did it without desoldering, few people reporter the same way. On the other hand some people desoldered it.

Try first on PCB, if not working then desolder and try again. 95256 is EEPROM.

Yes, that is it. You must be sure everything is connected acording to this tutorial. And try couple times to connect with clamp, if it still not working then probably you have to desolder chip from pcb...

The yellow LED on the programmer is lit?

  • Author

Both questions are already answered on first post.

Red LED was lit, as you can see in the picture on first post in this thread.

There’s an LED on the other side of the USB port. On mine, it was yellow

Works fine in my 2019 Skoda Fabia III FL with MIB2GP).

One remark: to connect using Windows 10, I also had to install the CH341WDM driver (it’s included in the NeoProgrammer V2.2.0.10 “Drivers” folder).

Thanks a lot!

for whoever wants it, this is the original men2 fec activator, the difference between them is that this one shows more info on your car, you just drag the .bin file to it and it launches and outputs the patched.bin, it does the same job just like the patcher op posted here.

men2_fec_activator.exe

Hi, thank you very much, it worked perfectly. Fabia 3

If I replace the radio with a 6V0 035 871J, will it work? Mine is a 6V0 035 869H

does this fix also remove component protection?

What i know, No

I have manage to get the file upgraded, solder it back to the board but the navigation is not powering up anymore.

I have check with a multimeter on the 12V plug that powers the infotainment and it provides the voltage.
Any tips on what to look for?

Try it again, unsolder, and solder again... It is probably not well soldered. However I strongly discourage desoldering as it is not simple proces, if you want to do it properly. In my experience, I did this process of activating smartlink 4 times, every single time it was possible without unsoldering...

If problem persist I recommend you take unit at some mobile phone service or similar, and ask them do soldering of eeprom chip.

I have solder and unsolder the eeprom 3 times already. (1 time i have put the original file on the eeprom)
I think i've solder the eeprom good as i'm kinda familiar on this subject. I was just wondering if there could be a problem from this eeprom on powering up the navigation.
Even if the eeprom would be missing/destroyed i would expect a power up on the display and probably push out an error.
Could it just be from the eeprom?

You can read it with clip even without 1.8v adapter, because ST95256-R can be read in range 1.8v-5.5v. I did it with, and without 1.8v adapter, working in both options.

I'm not sure... Have you checked fuses?

Yes, 12V is present at the wires.
