New VRS TDi

I do understand that by allowing an attempted repair that he may have 'indicated' compliance, however it must be bourne in mind that you don't reject a car for a simple job that can be fixed in 5 minutes so in fairness he should have let them try I think.

Bearing all that in mind 'the clock is now ticking' as it were and if it were me I would simply park it up at the dealer and deliver them a letter of rejection by hand asking them to sign a reciept for the letter. State in the letter that he will expect a full refund within 7 days and in until such times as settlement is made he will be using other forms of transfort for which he will hold them liable to pay for.

He refused their offer of a courtesy car (naturally) and as this was the 2 nd attempt to fix the same problem he also handed them the keys back verbally confirming that he was rejecting the car. That was 1 weel ago now.

Why are dealers so so reluctant to accept a customers request and simply hand them a cheque back?

The aggravation and raised blood pressure this must cause to all parties is ridiculous, and for what reason? Presumably to save themselves the loss of a few hundred pounds commision.

Very short sighted imo, as the damage to their reputation has no bounds at present.

I mean, I wouldn't personally purchase a car from them now, in particular, an Octavia vRS diesel. Totally ridiculous situation.

Is just a lever to expedite the return of the funds.

Effectively until he recieves the refund he is unable to purchase another car.

In other words, they are just being bloody minded.

Wonder how many other people he knows are now aware of his current problems with them and Skoda, and how many people they will tell. Mind boggling unbelievable stuff.

I certainly wouldn't run a business like that. If the customer has reasonable grounds for complaint, then just do a refund. Save all the hassle advers publicity and ill feeling.

I didn't think they had delivered any VRS Dervs yet except for the dealer demonstrators.

Released to the public about 3 weeks ago apparently.

I have had mine for a fortnight today gorgeous car in Corrida red BUT on holiday o,seas at present and cant drive it!!. Had a prob on the day I left after only 210 miles when engine management warning light came on, need to sort when back from hols. Anyone else any info on this fault

When I went to test drive the one in Northampton it had this fault aswell....might be a common fault. As the sales person said it had been in the garage (only took it out so i could test drive it) and it was just a loose connector

Anyway decided against the VRS for the L&K only because of the vastly equipped interior! :D

Hi,

The fault looks like the engine management, but if you check the manual its actually the exhaust management system, there is a recall on this.

Mine has had the fault since I first got it (early September), I have now done 4000 miles in it with no problems, apart from an annoying yellow light on the dash.

Cheers.

Update.

My mate 's new Vrs diesel is still off rhe road. Asked for a full refund but was blankly refused. Apparently a modified part is on order....BACK order. Something to do with the glow plug relay under the fuse box or something. Just how long he's therefore going to have to wait is anyones guess. Solicitors advice beckons next week.

Alledgedly a common fault already according to the stealer via Skoda UK.

He is extremely unhappy having a brand new car off the road at such an early time.

He wrote an e mail to Skoda but even they haven't had the courtesy to reply.

He tells me that when it's all sorted he's getting shut and will be purchasing a Honda Accord cdti.

Anyone else thinking that Skoda now they have built up a solid reputation for quality are cutting back on the engineering a bit like mercs of 5 or 6 years ago? Money , Money, Money........

I think my next car will be a 2nd hand beemer 530D if only I could get over the fact that everyone will think I'm an estate agent and a ****** + I'll never be allowed out of a turn again......

Problem was with the glow plug sensor apparently.

Dealers own demo has now started with the same problem much to his amusement.

Skoda UK were VERY attentive is the good news, and have offered a free first service as compensation, and the dealer have said they'll replace the car if it happens again.

Modified part as fitted to the Superb suprisingly, which is where the part was robbed from to get him back on the road, has now been fitted.

All other issues apart from the constant thwacking of the wiper aginst the A post when switching the wipers off to the rest position are now fixed.

He's generally not over enthusiastic about the car even now though sadly, and wishes he'd never bought it.

How much he want for it ;)

And here starts the 4 year debate over which is better - Octavia Petrol VRS, or Octavia Diesel VRS.

Glad you like it, but I wouldn't describe the petrol variant as "gutless". In my opinion, I would describe the diesel version as disappointing. Each to thier own.

Dear Shifty

Hope you didnt mind, asking, I have a new VRs Diesel less than a week old with all the toys, etc and guess what its back to he delay to reset an engine management fault, with a relay on 4-5 weeks back order.. But does it fly.... With a briskoda.net in the back window

This should explain it....

2 weeks on and the engine management light hasn't some back on again apparently, so the new modified sensor seems to have done the trick.
