i'm after sinking my teeth into a new go fast project car for the new year but at the moment i'm unsure as to which car i should use......

1) i'm thinking hatchback size only! becuase i love ickle cars (but i could be persuaded to go for an audi quattro coupe maybe if you can think of a good reason!)

2) i'd like to stick to the VAG stuff but i'm open to suggestions (i have been known to fiddle with renaults in the past)

3) it's got to be dirt cheap

any ideas or suggestions anybody????

Lupo/Arosa? 1.8T in it? You could make a decent spiritual successor to the Mk1 Golf, as they're about the same size

Those Corrado's.... Are extremely cheap.... You get a nice 2.9 VR6 Engine, which is fantastic sounding..... A decently handling car, and still something that doesn't look old fashioned. A lot of them are High Mileage, but you'll be guaranteed to get back nearly what you paid for it. Especially at there age now. Just a thought

If in doubt, have a look at the swedish tuning scene, it`s amazing what they can do.

there aren't many of those rocco's around on the roads any more! might be difficult to find a decend donor car.

A late model felicia is a good idea, quiet cheap and a pretty good starting point.

i've got a feeling that you could get a 240 with the b23let engine from standard, but they are well rare!!

He did his as a conversion. Trouble was he tweaked the engine and then kept blowing diffs

Sounds like an excellent idea to me - but there again Ive got a Felicia For Sale, so I could be a little bit biased!!

Felicia sounds like a great idea.

I would think if you fancied a really cheap scarey car a Citroen AX or BX could be an excellent Q car as they are made of plastic so weigh nothing. You can put a huge engine in the BX as even the 2.0's and 1.9XUDT had bags of room around them, but then you have the suspension and pump to run.

If you want to stay VAG i really thing the felicia would be quite cool, but a 1.8T scirocco would scare the **** out of most other drivers . That plus I think it really looks the part too

How about starting with a Citroen ZX? I crashed mine 5 years ago, and still miss it sometimes.

Old stylee Skoda with a Jet Turbine would be good on the Santa Pod drag strip
