actual MPG on VRS (petrol)

Featured Replies

So glad i'm not the only one with pants mpg. On a motorway run, I may not be too shy of 400 from a tank. Most of my driving day to day though is shorts spurts around town, and sometimes only get 260, which is nearly as bad as my T5 saloon.

I get about 280... 300 if i'm lucky but my routes are mostly round town

This is my 1000th post who hoo

My worst average was 7.8 mpg :eek::eek:

But I was driving it like I stole it round Knockhill at the time :D:D

My average is about 32.5mpg around A-roads.Trip computer says 35.5mpg.

If the revs stay below 2000rpm mpg really picks up.Motorway mileage is not significantly different as the revs are too high when doing 70...ish.

On a run I've averaged 38-40. My worst ever was 6mpg travelling across Bradford - 7 miles in an hour :(

During a working day I'm getting about 34mpg spaddling around Dorset, it does go up to 36 if I use V Power. The second computer reading shows 34.9 which is about right. I once got over 40 (42.6 to be exact) driving from Dorchester to Honiton, but I was stuck behind several caravans, pensioners and numptys and never got over 50mph.

The wife has a PD Octy II and gets a regular 60 mpg. Computer says 62 so it's fairly accurate. We've just come back from France in it St Malo - Cherbourg, about 120 miles, and with my heavy right foot it still did 60.9mpg.

Nothing much new to add to this thread, but thought I'd chip in as well...

05 vrs - driving style mixed, no mods.

My computer over-estimates by approx a couple of mpg - e.g. (computer) indicated 37 is actually (manually calculated over a couple of fill-ups) 35 mpg.

Indicated long term computer average hovers around 36-37, so actually 34-35 mpg.

Best single tank range was 450 miles, pootling around the Highlands a few weeks ago (couldn't find an open petrol station after 6pm!). Down to the last few molecules of fuel - became *very* concerned. Will not be doing that again.

Around town driving does seem to give v.poor mpg. Driving at 50-60 (e.g. 20 mile motorway journey to work) seems to give the best results - regularly see (indicated) 42 mpg on this trip. The return journey at 70 Mph (and perhaps a leetle bit more) sees (indicated) 34 mpg.

Leaving aircon on seems to cost approx. 5% consumption.

Fuel consumption does seem to be slightly worse in the colder months. This is not connected with switching the air con on for demisting. Wonder if it might be something to do with cooler air being denser and therefore the chip squirting in a little more fuel to match? Anyone else noticed poorer cold weather fuel consumption? Or is it all in my mind...?

its because it takes longer to warm up, so choke stays on longer.

Since my last post my mpg has increased, more than likely due to the warmer climate, to around 360 miles per full tank (33mpg on the onboard computer).
