Heated Washer Jets

Featured Replies

Think I may have asked this before but I would like to know if the Superb in Elegance trim comes with heated washer jets. Reason for asking is.... When I took delivery of my car I noticed that one of the jets was not snapped into its hole properly, upon clicking it back into place I noticed there was a wire going to it. Could anyone tell me if this is for a heating element, and if so, how do you activate it?

Kind Regards

SJ

If its got a wire going to it then yes it has heated jets. IIRC they are automated when the temp drops below a certain level, iirc 4 degees.

well I don't know then as it was -1°C this morning when I started the car, and they were frozen for most of my 20 minute journey.

Mine were frozen too. Bit of a pig, but then again, I dont know if mine are heated.

Manual says no. Says you should use de-icing spray "in order to ensure proper operation". I guess wire is to power the nozzles moving out.

go to the supermarket to the cooking ingredients section and buy some glycerine..... a few drops of that in there and it shouldn't freeze any more

I'm still hoping to retro-fit some of these, they prevent re-freezing more than freezing overnight though :)

The screen washer jets dont move. The headlight washer jets do and thats by water pressure.

On my Octy MK I the washer jets seemed to heat when you put the rear screen heater on, I could be wrong but maybe this is how it works on the superb.

Some audi owners think you need to have your heated mirrors turned on.

Tried the mirrors and heated rear window, but no joy! - Any more suggestions?

Blow on them?

Sounds like they are not working if they are fitted.

I'd think they were fitted as they were to the octy elegance.

Having only had my superb for 4 days i am still finding out things that are amazing me about these cars, as far as heated washer jets go. My car was left outside on monday night the same day as i got it, it is normally in a garage but not that night, anyway after a frost that night and the car said wen i set off for work at 7 in the morning that the outside temp was -2 about 10 mins into the journey i got behind a wagon which covered my screen with salt etc from the road having faith in the washers i pulled the leaver and hey presto water on the screen and even the headlight washers produced water to which i was very impressed.

So to cut a long story short mine are working.

Welcome cfr22 did you get your new grill fitted today, I got mine and my tray sorted, but no luck with the climatronic yet. At least I can wash mine now the sureguard has been on over a week.

No i didnt get my new grill fitted 2day.

Never mind it is on order and will be fitted soon i hope.

The wiring to the washer jets, that will be for the blue neons then :)

Bringing this thread back to the top.... Have another Superb Elegance since this original post, and still no joy with the washer jets - and they DO have wires going into them. So the question still remains, i had the heated rear window on, heated mirrors, and the air blowing to the windscreen this morning... Still jets frozen!

-5 this morning, so would really like this to work!

Any suggestions?

Are you sure it's not the fluid in the pipes which has frozen?

Same problem here - '52 Plate Elegance Superb.

Cables to washer jets, but washers no use until I'm almost at work - about 20mins.

Don't think it is the fluid in the tube, as the screen wash should be ok down to about -15degC.

Hopefully someone has a thought on this!

Have you tried unplugging the cable off the nozzle and checking there is power to it?

Any suggestions?

Might be worth loading up some pics so that some of the Superb owners with the 'poverty' models (such as myself) can see what wires your referring too........

I would also suggest putting some anti-freeze in your washer bottle and by normal use this will ensure that not only the water in the washer bottle doesn't freeze but also the water in the pipes doesn't............

Seems odd if the water is freezing, I am using my washers happily at the mo, and I have comfort spec so no chance it has any heating on the water.

sounds like a sensible idea to me
