Greenlight wont insure Fabia VRS anymore

Dreaded insurance time again. Contacted greenlight and they sent me an email stating

"We no longer quote Skoda Fabia VRSs due to our bad claims experience on this model"

Ive had absolutley ridiculous quotes

try Chris Knott, sorted me out.

Is it modified?

I've had good prices from Chris Knott (and have been insured with them in the past) and I'm currently with Adrian Flux.

I can't believe that quote, it's a joke.

Wow.. thats harsh...

If it's unmodified try moneysupermarket

Its lowered with leather seats thats all the mods ive done. Im already with adrian flux and there renewal is a bit steep I thought. What bugs me is that I can insure a new Octy VRS for less with swift cover.

In that case put it back to standard (but leave the leather seats in) would be my advice! I'm 30 and pay under £300 to insure my VRS. I suspect it's your claim history which is causing the high premium.

Yep Im seroiusly considering chainging the springs back. Yep claims histroy is the bug bear but thats what insurance is for. It want my fault some scum bag nicked my car (not fabia) which was recovered with no damage but Im the one whos ended up paying and they never caught the feckers. Sorry rant mode off im just peeved off at the moment!

I guess when a car is stolen there's no third party for the insurance company to get the money back from. Therefore it will always be seen as a claim (not your fault, just a claim). It's different if you're in an accident caused by someone else because the party at fault have to pay up (ie. your insurance company is not out of pocket). I can see why you're peeved off though, just one of those things I guess. In a few years time it'll be forgotten about...

I'm with Norwich Union, 32 2 years NCB and it's £650. Could get it down by searching round but thought it's easier to just renew with them :)

Hi, i am insured with esure for both cars and ebikesure for my bike, fabia 1.9sd1 was 199 FC and the astra sxi was 300 FC, bike was 185 ( VN 800 )

isnt there a web site that you can put your info in and it returns possible insurers.... could me money market ????

spevie

Yikes! I am with Adrian Flux (Highway) and paid

Greenlight are fine with mine??????

They did say however if I had any accidents they wouldn't insure me however, since I haven't had any fault claims they are fine insuring it :)

Bear in mind however, GreenLight are only a broker, the actual insurance company for me anyway is Highway Insurance (there are others obviously), might be worth calling them direct and seeing if they can quote you, as they are by far the cheapest on my modified Fabia :)

A-Plan Performance Car Insurance for me....

25 yrs old, 4 yr no claims, clean license, £469 fully comp :D

See if Barclays are doing their price-beater offer still. They'll match your renewal then give you £50 back if you accept the quote.

I got my renewal with Flux in December for £325, accepted a quote with Barclays for £324 (before the extra £50 back) and then phoned Flux back to say I got a better offer. Explained how it effectively worked out as £274 for the year, so Flux offered to drop my renewal to £270. I accepted the offer from Flux, cancelled with Barclays (which you can do within 14days) and dropped my renewal by £55!!

What are the legal implications of this? I've never been asked if I've had any declined/refused but I get asked if I've had any other quotes (probably more of a sales question than a legal thing).

My 2p worth - Flux - just changed off them after a few years - they were reasonablyt easy to deal with, but never really challenged their own pricing very hard. Saved a fortune on insuring my Yank and Jap Import elsewhere this year (I'd still consider AF, but they'd need to sort the cost out to be competitive)

Norwich Union - SB insures her Fab vRS with them. Between the Indian Call Centre that doesn't call you back/always claims their computers are down and recent disorganisation with a claim - we won't be goign with Norwich Union on anything in the near future.

You do realise that this means that when you get other quotes you should answer "yes" when you are asked if you have ever had insurance declined or refused.

no thats the car being refused... not him. The being declined insurance is based on the person being un-insurable for any car.

In this case I don't think you'd need to declare this - assuming the insurance company are no longer insuring any VRSs? This applies if you have a request for insurance declined because of you, not because of the car.

I've always been asked this or required to tick a check box before signing it off. Legal implications could potentially be severe, but I think if it's the car that is uninsurable, rather than the driver, it shouldn't matter.

Chris

I guess that's 3 of us that agree then!

The implications of hiding information from your insurance company are expensive. At best the insurance on your car is invalid. At worst you could cause a crash into someone and be sued.

i tried Confused.com , but because i'd had an accident in the previous year i couldn't get a quote , this was because i couldn't tell them how much the claim was for , i.e. total cost to repair 2 cars + whiplash claim

Mine is insured with Greenlight and they were by far the cheapest out there.

I got my insurance in November with them and they were more than happy to quote and provide cover.

I had heard the line you quoted last year, but I had no problems.

2p's worth Chris nott (highway) fc ins 700 squid 24yrs 3yrs no claims no points etc
