Liverpool Victoria/Frizzell Renewals

Featured Replies

A lot of people here have said that Liverpool Victoria (also known as Frizzell) have proved to offer the best deal for them.

Has anyone renewed their insurance with them yet? Are they cheap because they offer good introductory discounts or cheap in the longer term?

I've been with them for nearly a year now so I'm wondering if I need to start shopping around again. This is for a very ordinary Fabia 1.4.

I've been with Frizzell for just over two years so far, and I checked around a handful of other insurers before the last renewal. Frizzell/LV came out lowest.

Like wise Me too.

Had a Favvy with mods, all declared, none particularly power related, and not change to the premium.

Changed to the Saab Turbo. It went up by

Ha LV seem to be wanting to give me the boot as my insurance at renewal time is going up to 2500 (22 1.6 octy estate)

:jawbig:

So :eviltongu to LV i am off to Admiral at 500

They do prefer over 25's at LV. Even on non modded cars.

My sister and her G/F they are both under 25 and are on their 3rd renewal each time competetive quotes were given however L&V seem to be ramping up their premiums eg my parents tried to renew their insurance with them and were quoted 800 but my parents live in a hamlet of 4 houses in the middle of the Lake District 8 miles to the nearest large town of 15 houses and 25 miles from Carlisle. Between them have 60 odd years of driving experience and full no claims an no endorsements on their licence and the car they wanted to insure?......

A high performance sports car-esque Fiesta MK3 1.4

Insurance premiums are a dark art. For years following some claims, elephant insurance was by far the cheapest insurance quote for me, however at last renewal their quote was mysteriously higher than any other quote I got. I would always always shop around for insurance.

I also shop at 6mth period, just a very limited search.

But when I left direct line the new LV policy was less than the excess on DL and considerably less each month. Now having said that, laws of diminishing returns, doubt I'll make such a saving at the next 6mth review, thus I'll possibly not worry for 18mths, or 12 if renewals are stupid money.

Just rang LV on the basis of posts on this forum.

Over 50, clean licence, full NCB, garaged, alarmed - Octavia vRS - and they still wanted

Chris, I dont think its the low premiums that people here go for. For a standard car other companies will prob be cheaper. But for modded cars they dont ramp up the premium unless you put a bigger CC engine in. Anything goes, chip, suspension etc...

It is in some cases. I have a 1.4 Fabia so I'm hardly a boy racer.

LV/Frizzell are often better for younger and, as in my case, inexperienced drivers. There were several factors (where the car is kept, how long I've had my full licence) that would have bumped up the premiums with other companies. Bizarrely, Frizzell didn't even bother asking the questions! I queried this and was told they'd had a change of policy.

If anyone qualifies for membership of the CSMA (no need to display the sticker if it embarrasses you) it's worth finding out what discount it'll get you.

I was with NU Direct (won't accept any mods) before changing to LV. My mileage was voluntarily restricted to 8000 miles with NU which reduced the premium but Motor Legal Protection and overseas cover were extra. LV aren't bothered about mileage or mods (apart from any increase in cc), include legal protection and foreign use in their standard policy, and the windscreen excess is
Exactly Denis, most people don't seem to be comparing like for like with LV, there's a lot of stuff included in their standard policy (track days too, it seems)

:D

Oh, and they were cheapest by quite a way for me, with many companies either refusing cover or loading the premium by

Geoff,is that true ref. track days! Didn't even bother asking as would have fully expected, u must be flippin jokin chummy c.j. :D

I personally have not asked them.

However it's been posted on here and several other forums that they will cover you as long as there is no element of racing / timing involved in the track day.

It seems to follow the same pattern as their attitude to mods, i.e. no-one believes them, but after a few people call & ask it sinks in ;)

Geoff, I have just read LV's cover booklet and my certificate of motor insurance in detail. The only mention of track days or similar is in the second of the 2 exclusions on the certificate, ie:

Use for hire or reward, racing, pacemaking, speed trials or for competing in National British A or International rallies...........

are excluded.

PS I've just found 2 Jabba stickers in with my insurance docs. :D

Exactly...competitive use Denis.

Just for fun would fall under Social, Domestic and pleasure :)

I personally assume i am NOT covered. In the event of a mishap i'll call & see what they say. I have a feeling i would be pleasantly surprised, should the worst happen :)

I'm hoping to be in a vRS soon. LV have quoted 663 for me and spouse to drive. I plan to Jabba it ASAP. LV have confirmed that as long as it is NOT an engine modification, they don't want to know.

Not exactly sure what Jabba'ing entails but can someone please put my mind at rest that LV are OK with it.

Thanks

[sorry this should have been a new thread]

Craig, LV are only interested if mods increase the capacity (cc) of the engine. You are absolutely fine with a Jabba remap and with changing the exhaust, DV, CAI, FMIC, turbo etc.

RS drivers please ignore my previous rant about L & V - just rang them again and this time explained about the Jabba Chip and Track Days - quote =

So you actually got a cheaper quote by mentioning the car was chipped?

Initial quote with 250 excess = 478 - up it to 350 excess and premium drops to 430 - declare Jabba Chip and occasional track day - still 430 - they only increase pemiums if you increase engine capacity - I know, I know - but don't tell them yet!!

I have a Capri 280 that has about half the grunt of the RS. If I wanted to insure an Audi TT it would cost around

I am with LV can't find my booklet but last time I read it I seem to remember an exclusion about using the vehicle being not being insured off road on an airfield, its not on my schedule but I am sure I read it somewhere - I will keep looking
