keys locked in Furby in boot - HELP

Featured Replies

Possibly you can't lock the doors from the fob when the transponder in the key is in range of the receiver in the car - perhaps to prevent you using this while driving.

Maybe if the key's on the seat it's still in range?

Question is, if you put the key in the boot what happens with the autolock? ;)

Rich-VRS - out of order.

Having said that and not wanting an easy way for others to help themselves to my Furby, the only way is a spare key. The best way is to tape one in a plastic bag to a place under the car (radiator hose/ wiring harness etc) which is reachable but only you know where to look. Also allows you to tell the police how to get in without breaking everything if it gets stolen or you have an accident and cannot get back to the car (say break an ankle playing sport and get carried off to hospital leaving the car in a field).

Cheers

pardon my thickness, but how does the car "know" where the keys are?

Renault use this technology in there high end spec cars now usign the keybard.....you jus have to get close to the car and it unlocks. some sort of low tech radar thingymajig

I doubt we will be seeing that guy again:rofl:

Grumpy got a 7 day mini break........Free of course !!.........:)

Just a note, AA no longer have books in the vans with Effect Entry information in.

All effect entry and locking data is stored on computer and is double password protected.

Computers are locked in vans when in use, removed when not in use and can only be removed by the Patrol.

Cant remember EEing a Fab and as VRStu said would not tell anyway.

If a Patrolman was unable to get in or get the key, most would know of a local auto locksmith but this would have to be paid for and could be pricey.

Well you could use a small blue tooth , a wireless receiver or a transponder and have the car send out a signal. This would then have a range and a maximum response time. If the car was to constantly pulse it could not lock if there is a reply.

Alternatively 4 transmitters and a highly accurate, miniaturised version of something that mimics GPS. This would be much more accurate as it only covers the car interior and then the car wouldn't lock if the keys were within certain co-ordinates.

... Well you did ask:P

number 1, all i asked for was a bit of help. i didnt expect someone to post yes do this on the forum, all i asked is that is there a way as the rac said there was no chance.

number 2. i didnt ask for someone to tell me to brick the window, i mean come on anyone can do that, i asked without damage. obviously some people cannot read and need help !

number 3, i apologise to the people that are here and do help. but will not take back the comments for who they was related to !

there is no need for sarcastic comments. and to how many posts people post. look through guys. 80% of them are spam and crap. i can post crap but what for ? if i could help someone i would. but most posts have a good answer to peoples problems already, why post same thing twice..

The brick thruogh the window was a perfectly sensible answer in the event that a spare key was not readily available imo. As to the site being full of spam and crap, a lot of what is posted is what makes the site a community and social place to be, if you want sanatisation buy a Haynes manuel, you may find however that the money would be better spent joining freedom, and the knowledge the spam and crap sprouters are able and willing to impart a lot more comprehensive and usefull in the long run. ;)

hth

You could always get a spare remote, code it in and keep it with you separate from your keys - should the situation arise again

,

looks like you have met that target now you are upto 5 posts

Come on people, give the guy a break will you.

 Rich-VRS...We are only trying to help. We are a friendly lot. In all forums there is always someone who likes a laugh and joke. Please try to be a little more patient. The help given to many people here is fantastic. If you want to discuss privately with a member, there is a PM for this.

Enjoy your time here

Cheers ;)

I cant stand it when people come on here asking for advice, and get 2 pages of replies and still kick off. Its a free forum, and if you dont get the answers you want then tuff titty, people wont want to answer someones questions if they are going to be met with so much hostility for merely trying to help

In otherwords, take 3 deep breaths, step back, and realise we are all trying to help you:thumbup:

Rich

I really don't see what your problem is, and you certainly aren't going the right way about winning yourself any friends here.

You were given some sound advice to what was clearly a question that wasn't going to be answered in open forum. I'll agree that there were one or two less helpful replies but that was simply light hearted numour. You have been quite deliberately offensive.

I made the comment about your post count and I stand by that, the post count is an indication of the commitment that users put into the community, yes some of the posts people make are of drivel, but this is a community as well as an information resource which obviously you don't really wish to take part in just turn up when it suits you and have your questions answered then resorting to verbal abuse when it doesn't go your way.

FYI fordfan is a very helpful member of this community who happens to be a qualified technician with a great deal of experiance under his belt and had you been bothered to check his previous posts before abusing him you would have seen that he offers sound and accurate advice to members - free of charge.

You have already received one warning for your attitude towards other members and your are staring another in the face. I don't really care if this bothers you or not but what I will do is ensure that you don't continue.

I see you are online at present and I will allow you to reply to this thread before I lock it. Please consider your reply carefully.

I looked at the lock systems on the Fabia at the weekend, just to see how easy it would be to break into ( not telling of the results ). This was after doing the works van over ( so to speak ). A fleet of a few thousand vans fitted with high security slamlocks to stop our tools being nicked. My best time 3.5 seconds with NO DAMAGE.

Waste of money fitting the locks. Citroen Berlingo, Renault Kangoo. Same method worked on the mk4 Polo and Seat Arosa/Lupo.

Got it covered, the passive types are inductively powered transponders ;)

Wonder if anyone fancies doing this for humour value.

Oh and Rich,

While you might want what you deem a correct answer, try to remember that nobody on this site owes you anything and give advice for free. If you want a direct answer do feel free to go pay somebody to tell you what you want to hear.

In a community such as this one you will probably find it works better to be nice to people and you get somewhere without being charged for the advice.

Of course we can all drop to your level, so if you can't be nice, feel free to go elsewhere.
