nice :D

owww tasty new bits :D

:iagree:

anyhow

isn't that fan mounted the wrong side of the radiator:confused:

surely that fan spins anti-clockwise?

I seem to remember my dad telling me that he and my mum used to have a Hillman Imp, and the fan on that was hooked up the wrong way round out of the factory. In fact, I'm sure he said they were ALL like that, although most were rewired by the dealers before sale - ah, the joys of 70s UK motoring! ;)

All good fun, back hurts a bit now though.

Seems to be coming along nicely:D

All good progress.

Get the bay cleaned up before you put the motor back in, please! :P

Of course i will, hence the pictures for the before and after effect.

Not just cleaned but smoothed a bit, stich welded up and repainted. Removing all no essential brackets and fixings etc.

Removing all no essential brackets and fixings etc.

My kind of modding. :D

I have faith :P

Will the battery tray be coming off then now the new one is in the boot? Looks like its fairly rotten anyhow.

Good luck getting that waxy ****e off. I struggled with my MK2 - its like glue.

There isn't really a battery tray to speak of just a little runner at the back. I think what i will do is cut the top section of the chassis leg away and weld a new flat piece of steel accross so its just a nice flat panel.

If only my engine bay was that clean :)

I just wonder how the car is gonna be running after all this TLC!...........

If only my engine bay was that clean :)

Hardest thing is to remove all the vw under seal but looks a lot better once it's off. Will be happy when i can solve all the fueling problems on mine :thumbdwn:

And quite a nice follow on for an update...

As projects usually do this one is snow balling somewhat with me deciding to go the whole hog whilst I am there. The engine bay is being prepped, welded and reworked so all the harnesses will be hidden where possible and any unused bracketry removed, I have also removed the back upper bulkhead so it looks a lot tidier and gives me more room to work around the engine.

Before removal..

I will also be stripping the front suframe down and getting the frame, arms and arb powder coated :)

All good dirty fun.

 looks like a big job broken out there Ross

Interesting stuff - don't try this at home, eh?

Good things are worth waiting for - this is gonna be a real work of art in the end...
