Top Gear Polar Special

Featured Replies

Think it's repeated on Sunday, check it out, was a good piece of telly, kind of thing only the BBC seem capable of making.

I totally agree, but even though the BBC filmed it, I recon it was probably Toyota that actually made it ;) call me a cynic :D

I want a Toyota invincible - Arctic Trucks edition of course.

Great hour's entertainment. It looked much less staged then other "races", and if they did in fact reach the pole in a motor vehicle - they are the first, and they have made history. Well done I say, and the filming and scenery was fantastic.

Missed the first 20 mins, but i'll watch the re run on Sunday

it was organised by the polar challange crowd who do the charity event up to the north pole....its a well worn track up there and the back up support is immense.....anybody can do it if you can get some cash together......as for the driving!....a few liberties taken with the camera work!!

k:)

:D :D :D ! Thats it!! My face all the way and long after the show.

Wonder if they will release it and the USA special on a 2 disc dvd called CARRY ON TOP GEAR:cool:

I enjoyed the beginning with the training on the ski slopes more than the expedition itself. Oh yeah, and the bits when Clarkson was driving the truck off when James May was using the dunny. :D

Anyone with Virgin media can catch "on demand" for 7 days

I thought it was entertaining

What was the sking guys faced blanked out for swmbo was yacking whilst that bit was on so i didn't quite catch the jist of it

Something to do with him being some kind of secret army.

Thefirst 20 minutes were so funny. Clarkson getting pushed in ice cold water.

And my personnal favourite. A very short bit when they were looking at the rifles and May looked down the barrel pointing at him self.

There were several people who stepped in off camera and snatched it off him.

Yeah I think they said he was ex-special forces.....

I figured it was something a bit military

he would have been there on the request of the insurance company!.....just to dot the I's and cross the T's.....its common practice:)......at first i thought the whole thing was going to be a joke of some kind!!....at one point i was really thinking they cant be serious!!.....but spoke to a none civvi mate whole told me who was behind the whole thing:)......felt a bit better after that!!

I love this. It was an entertaining hour, or it wasnt. Why does everyone have to critically analyse Top Gear. They went to the North Pole. Either you enjoyed thier journey, or not.

but to some people trying to work out how things were done is THE enjoyment!!:)

I agree. I thought this programme was one of the best ever Top Gears and I'd love to see a 'making-of' just to see how and why they went about it.

Top Gear producer's blog

I'd always thought they were all a bit of a set up. I watch 'cos it's entertaining, not because I believe it? Am I wrong??? (Probably!)

Yes but don't you just love it when a plan comes together? :D :D

Just started this now on catch up on demand.

I really liked the look of this so had a look to see if there were any similar "experience" holiday packages, I doubt I will spend

I bet someone from the press quickly jumps on Clarkson for flagrantly drink driving, albeit within the law, which is no law :D

Well, its taken a year, but turns out I was right (Dont get to say that too often, make sure SWMBO doesnt see it :P)
