was a country road with no markins at all. i did everything right. they were over to the far left side brakin beside a row of houses so i slowed down indicated and pulled out as it was a straight road and totally clear and at day time.

Do you have any idea what your impact speed was? Looks like the car survived remarkably well

i had slowed doen to about 40 before i started the overtake and then a lot more when i saw him turnin. thats really all i remember. next thing i remember was bein upside down. but i was told i nearly stopped on top of the hedge then rolled off. all windows were ok bar front and everything stilll worked doors etc. would love a vrs now but i may get a 2nd had audi i dont know

Ouch!!

Pleased to know Aero18's ok.

Duke, one of my mates had 2 similar occurances (overtaking someone who turned right into them, on second time they were stationary, and clearly moved off straight into a right turn without looking, listening or signalling). On neither occasion was my mate held to be at fault.

good to know you'll be fine and wont end up paying for some other gormless get!

i remember lookin at the roof and wonderin why my mats where on the roof then i relized i was upside down!

That's one to file away - you can have a good laugh later about that when you're over it all.

How is the neck ?

Been to hospital, X-rays presumably ?

To be fair, if a car is slowing, you should probably be trying to work out why they are doing so and looking ahead to assess what they are doing and what speed if appropriate for an overtake if at all.

If you blame the guy turning for not looking for the guy overtaking at speed, then surely you also have to blame the guy overtaking at speed for not assessing the overtake conditions correctly.

IMVHO, if you have to slow to 40 coming up behind the car, then I would be seriously considering why this was before even contemplating an overtake. Even if I did then overtake I would do so very slowly as somebody could be pulling out, or there could be some debris in the road etc.

Glad your ok. Cars can be replaced, the fleshies they transport around can't.

Its bad enough to see any accident but seeing how close your car ended up to that tree makes you think what could have happened

i was workin out and there were arow of houses on the left hand side and since he was puled right over it appeared he was stoppin at the houses. the road is a national sped limit one and is totally staight and wide not a normal country road and i could see well in front. so i did think what he is doin and on this road ppl stop on it all the time to goto houses and into fields. neck is ok all been xrayed straight away. never wanb to be in a neck brace and strapped down again

Hey you been reading Roadcraft or something? ;)

Hey you been reading Roadcraft or something? ;)

Maybe ;)

That plus some HPC driver day thingamawhatsit.

It's a real shame about your car as it was obvious you looked after it, but as so many others have said it is just a piece of metal and can be replaced.

Small consolation when you see how it looks now I know but at least you are able to look at it now and think about replacing it.

A lucky escape for sure and obviously the car did it's job and protected you from serious harm.

Hope you get it sorted and find a replacement sooner rather than later.

Wow, sorry to hear about your accident. The roof seems to have held up well. I hope everything gets sorted ASAP with Insurance.

I wasn't having a go at you, but was just stating that people shouldn't be calling others `gits` etc.

My point is that as a driver you have to look out for the actions of all drivers, look ahead, look behind and take steps to mitigate for the unexpected as far as happens.

I know from experience this isn't always possible as some people do things that are unbelievable, so a person can only try their best to minimise any risks.

At the end of the day nobody was hurt, which is what really matters.

you need to be a mind reader over here..

the amount of people who have pulled out in front of me without indicating is unreal... barstewards

now im not a good driver.. but i do always indicate.

cheezemonkhai ok i accept your point but in the context it appeared to be critizin my drivin and thats one thing in my life i am proud about as bein a safe driver and help others when i can by lettin them out or helpin in other ways thats why i did my advanced test. but as u said no one is hurt just my baby :(. there really are to many careless drivers about these days as my friend NitroNI can agree wit

Ed, it's the same everywhere :thumbdwn:

My daughter (learning) tells me you don't have to indicate if there's no-one about - and that, IMHO, is part of the problem. Most people are too busy doing everything but what they should be - concentrating on their driving - so can you expect them to check their mirrors etc and then actually have to 'remember' to indicate. OMG, that is so much like hard work.

I've followed many, only to see that despite me being behind they've not bothered to indicate at junction after junction.

I think everyone should be forced into a tuition course and test every five years to try to drive out the bad habits they've gotten into.

ok i admit when there is no one around im prob one of the worlds worst for not indicating, they could have saved a few quid and not bothered fitting them on my motor.

glad your ok, car dont look too bad considering its been rolled, a bit of t-cut and it will be as good as new.

I'm looking to do some advanced driving myself.

Can I ask which one you took and do you find it helpful in general driving?

i did the course with the IAM. helps a lot with observation and being a smoother driver. i find it also helped with my bike driving as well. also helps with insurance costs too. well recomended :)

Aero can you please have a read of the forum guidelines, in particular with regard to the use of "text speak" which is not the preferred method of communication here.

I think the general message seems to be "expect the unexpected" ;)

I'm suprised the vultures aren't circling in an attempt to purchase the good bits :D
