Wot about the kids on trackday ?

Featured Replies

Now I know a lot of you havn't got nippers, but some of us have, and some of us have got car crazy ones too..hears mrs cj groaning in disgust, and saying 'he's a clone of you, cars, cars,cars.'.I reply saying could be worse, could be just girls girls girls! Not that there's much wrong in that dept.either!.Fact of the matter is I rang up the track today, and they have stated quite catergorically that under no circumstances will anyone under the age of 16 be allowed on the track in any car.No exceptions :( I was talking to steve about this the other night on the track day thread,he wants to take his lad too.Like me though, where's he gonna put him while he's out on the track  Sure there must be others in the same predicament. My lad is v unhappy, cus Track Action who i've used several times don't have an issue with this, providing you sign a disclaimer. So be it.Wondered if there is anything to keep the kid s amused down there. According to Franchessca who I spoke to today, 'nowt'. Wondered if there is anyone with a bit of a marquee or similar that we could set up,bouncy castle, slowish go karts, I don't know. I'll be more than happy to bring ps2 and games if there's power.Any ideas anyone or are kids either going to have to be supervised or left at home so us family blokes can come out and selfishly enjoy ourselves? colin  p.s Also found you can't pay balance on phone, has to be on line, and theres only 9 places left she said

Colin,

There is the control tower where they hold the drivers' briefing. Last time I was there, the SEAT guys setup a PS2 and were letting people have a go at stages in WRC,

If someone has a portabe TV they can bring along, i'll bring the XBox & PGR2. If the kids can't go on track it might keep them busy for a bit :)

 Excellent Geoff and a 'not so bad' after all TAXEEEE! driver :D Can bring x/tension lead, porty tv,ps1 & ps2 loads of games, scalectrix, cuddly toys (ME!! :D :P ) anymore advances on that lot.Really don't want to leave my son behind, he'll be mortified.Wouldn't mind but i'd have thought a circuit was a lot more risky than an airfield, not that i'm trying to make light of a potentially dangerous activity. colin

Depending on the number of young 'uns attending (and their age) we could always come up with some sort of competition to keep them busy for a little bit. Probably a bit twee for the older teens, but easy enough to set up? (And cheap!)

Dodge the Octy? :D

How about an Under 16's wheel changing contest ?? :D

Dont worry, I will have an excellant supply of stanley blades, plus the odd bottle or 2 of One Shot drain cleaner (99% sulphuric acid).......I think that will probably be sufficient to disuade you.. :D

Nope, and i don't want any thanks :)

That can be arranged too - we have the bricks, cheap but not guaranteed scar-free, the bolt cutters, good if you have plans to get a motorbike in the near future, or the wire cutters, more skill required therefore the most expensive option, but scars guaranteed to cover no more than 50% of the scr0tal skin area ...

:D Steve, welcome fellah, strewth it's 'ard work on 'ere sometimes! What you think of the limited no. of ideas so far? Might ring easy track again tomorrow to find out if we can get the old playstations up and running. Your lad handy on it? Think if we can raise enough intrest,i'll sort out a nice wrc for the winner- er 1/18th scale, not my son though,he's **** 'ot on ps,spends his ruddy life on it,better than trawling the streets though! cheers colin

PS2/X-Box etc is a great idea, i was even thinking of trying to bring Jesse's dirt bike but im working day & nite and wont have time to dissmantle it :( . Hopefully the track action will keep 'em amused for a while ,the only real problem i see is if it's p*ssin with rain.

Steve

If anyone's bringing along a telly I can bring along my good ol' N64 with goldeneye game, and 3 kids can shoot each other to merry hell! TBH, this N64 is worth jack [cough] to me now and I'd be happy to give it away to the kid who wants it the most, I mean, polishes my car to the highest shine!

I can just see some kid saying, "Daddy? Is this what you played on when you were my age?"

 Jase, havn't got a clue wot N64 is,but if it'll play on ps or xbox and its not too bloody or too rude we'll 'ave it ! Tar.My lad will be bringing the sponge and shammy for the cj drive thru car wash. All proceeds to?......................Me? Will hopefully keep this thread rolling to gather more info ideas etc. Are there going to be nosebag facilitys at this place by the way? colin

N64 is a console - about 5 or 6 years old now, with the Goldeneye James Bond game on it. It just needs power, a telly with co-ax connector at the back, and 3 willing participants. ;)
