My Fabia VRS 1/4 Mile

Featured Replies

Serious question: does torque come into this at all? Remember reading that Jabba Luke felt his old car could deal with 300bhp cars....

it has to come into it, but it's not the deciding factor - bear in mind that at trax this year, a fabia vrs se with nearly twice the torque plain could not keep up with mavis despite her ****ty brakes, cheap front tyres and badly slipping clutch

:)

Okay so most ran 240 ish like you said:thumbup::rolleyes: BUT one ran 260 ish & another ran 324 so 260+ is possible:eek: :P:D

Was yours a 210 or 225 Cupra R:confused:

Paul:thumbup:

Mine was a 210. The one's that ran 260 had a lot of work done to it though. 320 + is hybrid turbos.

Running a peloquin LSD and it rains for only 2-3 months of the year out here...

I have an ATB LSD fitted to my Civic. And they're not designed to help in a straight line.

How is yours different to mine?

A lot of serious Jap market have them fitted as standard. I had a Civic SIR with one and it was fantastic. I wish more UK market cars had them

yes but it still slayed the evo's,and ben wasn't bothered if he drove her home or got the bus,4x4 and a good trackday driver helped a lot but yes he smoked me and every other fabia on track, and mavis was quicker in a straight line to boot, bas you said about lukes car, that got beat by a standard mk 5 golf gti,i think you read the thread about it on here, and that being the case there must be some poor cupra r,cooper s drivers about to name but a few.

Didn't think your bro had been on recently as he does usually have something to say on this subject, the nasty fabia hater that he is;)

bas you said about lukes car, that got beat by a standard mk 5 golf gti

You keep saying Lukes vrs got beat by a standard Golf Gti but i disagree, i've got this mag (performance tuner, issue 3, TDI versus GTI) and the times recorded say otherwise 0-100 16.3 vrs & 16.6 gti, down the straight the gti hit 138 wereas the vrs hit 144!!

I read on here aswel Luke saying the gti was remapped which could be true because in an other mag i read (EVO) the golf only recorded 0-60 6.7 & 0-100 17.9 whereas performance tuner recorded 0-60 6.4 & 0-100 16.6 which is quiet a difference:confused:

Only going of figures:(

mine does help in a straight line - tho' of course its the early putting down power around corners that they really shine.

In a straight line, you don't have one (alternating) wheel spinning and wasting traction - they both do and you're still going straight ahead. Allows one to modulate the power and use all the traction that FWD two wheels can offer...

how yours differs from mine, no idea - don't like Jap cars tbh:rofl:

I was bothered if he drove home enough for the both of us :D but to be honest, mavis had it easy due to the brakes and clutch, wait till Trax next year and see how he drives the Octavia around Silverstone... it's as if the words "mechanical" and "sympathy" didn't know about the existance of each other

Sorry, I'm in shock and therefore I am failing to work out what you've just said.

Civic Type R's couldn't even look at your standard vRS? Explain....

Because if you mention what I'm about to think you are, then surely this is a joke..

1/4 mile, in the wet...

Beating Civic Type R's... They just couldnt get any traction off the line...

Dony worry, im not making ridiculous claims about my car and/or driving. The look on his face after the first couple of runs was priceless though! :D:thumbup:

Im lost - so your saying:

In the wet - A skoda fabia vRS as Standard can beat a Honda Civic Type R?

but -

In the Dry - A Honda Civic Type R is totally different vs a Skoda Fabia vRS..

??

Rob take it with a pinch of salt. What he really wants is a Type-R!

Correction Snoopie - he wants a Skoda fabia vRS in the rain.. then when its sunny outside it turns into a type R...;)

No no no

In the wet, from a standing start a my vrs was a bit quicker down the 1/4 mile...

In the dry, i got royally shafted by said Type R...

Next time its raining, im there, and i will get a video of it :)

And no, i dont want a Type R

Me neither couldn't live with lack of torque and having to rev it past 6k to get it going:eek: quickly ;)

With having 169lbs of torque, built across a huge rev-range.... My car will pull quicker through the gears than a remapped Fabia at full pelt.

It's nice to have power that lasts, I couldn't live with the lack of rev range, and not getting anywhere quickly... ;)

The huge rev range on a type r doesn't mean much as it's very low geared. I can get the same max acceleration and full power and speed in each gear out of my TDI with it's 6 speed the same as a type r even though my redline is at 4750 rpm. You will be very lucky to even get 60mph out of second gear on a type r. However i do have a lot more than a remapp.

At full pelt and you'll have to wait for that! Even with your extra 24lbs over a standard CTR its still not a great deal of torque!;)

The Vtec still only kicks at 6k (unless you've done some major mods) so that gives you a power band of 2k thats not exactly a massive power range:rolleyes:

Honda must think its a problem or they wouldnt of lowered the Vtec in the new CTR!:)

Not a great deal of torque? It's 8 lbs of torque less than a standard Octavia vRS, and weighs 200KG lighter. Which means, it's torque per tonne is better. Does that mean all Octavia vRS's haven't got any torque? Fair enough then.

Major mods? No, Only a Hondata ECU, which you can lower the Vtec to whatever you want.

Mine starts at 4,000 and revs to 8,600. Definately a crap powerbands. It's exactly the same powerband that you have, 4,500 thousand rpm.. So, Have you got a crap powerband too?

This is for Novaneil, who can beat remapped LCR's..

Car: silver Fabia (1 BHP and 1 lb/ft) Re: Fabia vs Seat LCR

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Having had a go against a standard LCR 210 in my remapped Fabia vRS I can confirm that the Fabia will not match the LCR. On a long straight off a roundabout on my private track I lost about 2 lengths to 90 mph and I got a better run off the said roundabout, once the LCR reached 90 he almost seemed to press the "GO FASTER" button and pulled maybe 10 lengths to 130 where we had to slow. An LCR 225 would be even further ahead, and a remapped LCR would simply drive away IMO.

P.S. I did this run x2 once one way, once the way back and both results were the same.

I suppose I could summize that 2 lengths up to 90 isn't bad from say 30 mph off the roundabout, however in reality I could easily tell the difference in power, and yes I was giving it some...

I weight 16 stone, same as my friend, on both cars the reserve light had just come on, and neither of us had passengers or anything in the boot etc, so it was a fairly even comparison.

Just my 2p worth.

16 Stone???????????

If I was that fat I would buy a bus...

Oh wait...

Why dont Honda produce the CTR with the Vtec kicking in this low, if all it takes is a different ECU:confused: It must make it a better to drive and alot more usable for normal driving!

My brother in law has got a CTR and it is quick and sounds good (tinted windows, red seats & red carpets:thumbup: ) but when i drove it i got fed up of the Vtec being so high up in the rev range and not always bein able to get in the power band!

If it kicked in at 4k i might have a different opinion tho;)

Thats an easy question to answer. The service interval would be every 5k and it would need a rebuild after 60k.

As usual these threads always miss one big point;

It's all down to personal preference. I could always make my VRS go faster round atrack then any of the Clios, or standard CTR's I came up against.

Why? I probably had bigger balls (Or a smaller brain, same thing really) and was into it a bit more than others who would worry about killing the brakes or something else whereas I could easily fix these things myself at less cost than someone who would need to go and see a man to fix them.

I think the point I am trying to make is it is what it is. It's what you do with it that truely defines it's credibility and purpose.
