Thats a Lie - Snoopie is just a pro with photoshop  :D;)

and thats not a carbon bonnet - They just missed a bit :D :D

Thats fair enough mate, just don't like being called a lier / dreamer etc When I have proof of what I was claiming.

Some people may have actually found this thread entertaining lol

I can certainly see the entertainment value of this thread :)

Becareful, because you'll be 'one of those people' that are on forums, that go around telling the dreamers, they need a reality check.

I think the OP's lucky a certain brother of mine is currently loafing about in Spain...:D

He'll still view it when he gets back!

Driver skill can mean an awful lot in drag racing. I got torn to shreads the other day with a new 2007 Spec BMW 320d, which has a similiar output to mine.

The point of the matter is whilst people like to pour scorn upon factory or benchmark data figures like the 0-60 you would see in WhatCar Magazine, or Carfolio because they don't deem them real-life figures; they are accurate.

This data has been compiled in controlled conditions, with near idential fuel loads, weight loads, car setups and most importantly they are repeated and repeated until an average is formulated.

Its totally impossible to do such a thing during a weekend down your local dragstrip. Tyres would be different, weight loads, car setups; but most importantly driver skill. So whilst its rewarding to see a Furby do so well considering the circumstances its not real accurate representation of what it is capable of. Whilst an offical 0-60 or 1/4 mile time is.

really good objective points raised. I'll throw another one into the discussion:

A driver giving it 10/10 effort-wise is always gonna beat another driver who is positive that his car is superior and babies it a bit only to find that it struggles against a 'sleeper' and he should have gone all out....

Part of the entertainment value of a Furby....

I raced a Cooper S the other day and we where even.

Ive 2 mates with them and beat them both!! I cant now though as ones just put his up to 210bhp:(

You would be, having a remap to your car. I'm not denying the fact that you couldn't stay with a standard cooper s, but once the speeds are over 100, the cooper s will pull away.

But as far as an M3 go, a remapped Leon Cupra R, a Focus RS bla bla, it's just a dreamworld to compare to them.

Snoopie,

My Brother had a Cupra R Leaon when they first come out (210bhp) and he couldnt get past my remapped Fabia on a duel carriageway!!, he also couldnd go round tight bends with the poor steering lock and broke 3 front splitters on speed bumps.

He sold it after my 5 grand Rev 3 MR2 Turbo left it!!:)

Cupra R's are **** in my opinion, that's why I flogged it. We've all seen a video of a remapped Octavia - 2 in fact, pulling away from a remapped Fabia.

A remapped Octavia will be around 205 hp. And my old Leon Cupra R when standard could quite well pull on an Octavia vRS that was remapped, due to the stronger turbo at higher revs, but not by much.

Remapped was a different story and an unfair comparisons.

I had both, just what Fabia owners must get out of there head, is the speedo, and how the car feels. The car feels torquey, and it is, pulls really well, but the speedo wouldn't pull anywhere near as fast as a Cupra R remapped.

And that's the story here notty, a remapped Leon Cupra R couldn't pass a Fabia remapped or vice versa.

240-250hp vs 165-170....

I don't think so, and you admitted yourself, you can't beat a car now with 210hp.

See where this is going?

I agree...... once you tweek a Cupra r it will shift. It was quite dissapointing though as he had to virtually stop at speed bumps where as most cars have no problem and thats standard!!

A Mini Cooper with 210bhp is a machine with handling to match, mind you he spent 4 grand on getting it like that. His other car is a Audi RS4 Avant so money is not an issue!!

Ive been having a laugh at this thread!

I had off an 02 plate cooper s the other day going from 20-110;) , but my mate who's got a leon cupra (180) remapped and a few other mods (221 proven at awesome gti) leaves me for dead! I can match him to about 90 but after that it just fly's away:O (he still cant believe a diesel skoda can match him till then tho:thumbup: )

He's a good driver and gives his leon plenty of stick, i think this is the main factor when racing against other cars with plenty of poke! I cant see how a remapped fabia vrs could stay anywere near a 260bhp cupra r, unless he's not driving it properly:confused:

Just my opinion:thumbup:

Cupra R's are 240 ish remapped. Never get near 260hp even when full of mods, typical Revo claims.

Take a look at JKM and Awesome for 'PROPER' RR results.

I had the impression you could get more than 240 out of a Cupra R, there 225 standard arnt they? so thats only an extra 15 bhp?

A mate at work had one with remap & a few other bits, he told me it was 280ish guessing he was talking b#l##cks!!!

I must admit a Standard Cooper S against a moderatly remapped Furby is fantastic fun. When I had a tangle the other day it was on two fair lengthed duel carriage ways with a roundabout seperating the two. I was in the outside lane on the first dual-carriage way and was a car-length ahead, however the roundabout got interesting.

I attempted the good old 'out-brake and power away" technique, however this became messy when I charged head-long into the roundabout too fast and ended up over-steering then under-steering before exiting with the tyres squeeling in agony as I attempted to claw-back some speed.

I now had the inside lane and the Mini had the outside line; it was edging up on me rather quickly and we both got to about 115 before I eased off and so did it, we where pretty much neck and neck as we ploughed on the brakes for the seconde and final roundabout.

However nothing prepared me for the shock I got when I looked to my right and saw it was a flipping gorgeous young girl piloting the Cooper S; who was grinning from ear to ear at me. She gave me a thumbs up before she went right and I went straight on.

Try running a 1/4 mile in the wet ;)

Civic type R's couldnt even look at my (standard) vRS... Got bored of people asking if it had been mapped :D:thumbup:

Different story when it dried out though... :o

Sorry, I'm in shock and therefore I am failing to work out what you've just said.

Civic Type R's couldn't even look at your standard vRS? Explain....

Because if you mention what I'm about to think you are, then surely this is a joke..

but you don't always need to put in 100% effort to "win" - despite launching a very sly sneak attack, there was nothing I could do in my Focus to get past my brother's Octavia on the way home from Star :o

Just been on jabba and they are claiming 256-275 for the Cupra R 225 custom remap:confused:

_Stage 2 - 1.8T Custom Rolling Road Remap button_view.jpg £475 (inc VAT) Standard BHP:225 Jabba BHP: 256 - 275

So maybe my mates Cupra R could be 280 with a few other mods:D :P

Or maybe, when based on an accurate dyno. How about... definately not ! ;)

Serious question: does torque come into this at all? Remember reading that Jabba Luke felt his old car could deal with 300bhp cars....

Okay so most ran 240 ish like you said:thumbup::rolleyes: BUT one ran 260 ish & another ran 324 so 260+ is possible:eek: :P:D

Was yours a 210 or 225 Cupra R:confused:

Torques all well and good if you can put it on the road. A Fabia cant, and if its a slight bit wet and slippy... get the bus. On the motorway its great though!!
