Speed into first Corner?

Featured Replies

From the main starting straight I chickened out and took the first sweeping corner at 70mph, my mate took it at 90mph, virtually no tyre screeeeeech.

He also topped out at 100mph round the track, where as I managed 90MPH. This is for a totally standard Fabia VR/s.

I think this is relatively slow as I only passed one car whilst out on track.

Loads of people obviously went faster, so what did you all achieve?

Need to see what can be done for next time :)

I was a passenger in the Noble - that lead in corner was taken wheels sliding at 135mph - I jest u not :) The video will be on the site later tonight. Anyone else get a cabby in the Noble GTO ? He was an impressive driver.

no idea.. never looked at speedo.. was flat out on straight then lifted before turn in, settled it then waited for decent tarmac before applying power and tightening the line, pushed nose wide a couple of times but never managed to unsettle it there.

I did manage to look at the speedo ( just) & could just top 100mph before a quick dab on the brakes to settle it & them foot to the floor all the way round - great fun :D:D

Speedo. What speedo. Too busy looking ahead :D. First corner I did lift (quick tap of the brake as well) then back on the power when the car turned in. Could of takin it flat out but thought best not just incase the **** went .

Regards to top speed, think I was getting close to 4k (if not more) in 4th. So prob 3 figures.

What a great day it was

just under 130 but more because it wouldnt boost properly than because it ran out of grip....

For me - just about pulling a ton on the straight past the pits, dab of brakes before the turn, back on the power half way through, looked at the speedo once and saw 100 again just after the apex.

110, no lift for that corner.

So currently I'm the 'Driving Miss Daisy' of Briskoda.

Perhaps the thought of 'if I stack it, I have to pay for the repairs' had something to do with it.

130 is impressive BTW.

Thanks to everyone that gave me a polite wave as they passed me :)

about 100 - 105 just prior to the entry, but I chickened (every lap  !!) and dabbed the pussy-pedal just on the entry ... and there was no way I was looking down at the speedo while I was going through the bend!

I should add that in Whitelightning I was only doing 100mph on that corner - again the thought of losing my road going transport outweighed the "ass kickin" urge to floor it pass rubber grip :) That Noble stuck well but there was some sideways action round the circuit (my bottom was 2 inches of the ground in that thing hehe).

115-120 during AM session, some lift before entry, but soon back on and let it choose it's own line..doubt it was much higher and it was far lower in the afternoon when I was not alone and on my road tyres, well 100-110 :D

I bottled it the first couple of times around that bend - speed gradually built up from around 70, to a maximum of around 95 (basically not braking at all beforehand), as I resisted the urge to cut in too tight, and allow the car to wander out wide a bit - there was plenty of distance before T2 to get back out to the left hand side again. :D

This for a totally [cough] standard [cough] PD100.

edit: My avatar shot was taken at just that corner - dead chuffed with stance of car through that corner!

I tried not lifting beforehand but found I couldn't hold it on the power through the curve then so it drifted very wide and felt uncomfortable. I found it better slightly slower in, faster out.

didnt really look at the speedo, in the early stages I was taking it easy and dabbing the brakes. but later just kept going, had some fun and nearly hit the yellow cone on a few occasions.

Once to grips with the corner and what the car would withstand, found that I was accelerating through the corner at around 100 to 105 before jamming the brakes for the right hander. Tried to keep up with the taxi at one stage - useful to follow someone elses line...

I was hitting around 100-105 (GPS-Speedo), and i reckon if anoyone on standard RS suspension & road tyres did any more, they're either mad, or have a very optomistic clock ;)

I tried pushing harder on one lap and found the front end deciding where it was going with no input from me

Two thoughts Geoff,

Strut brace and P-Zero Road tyres :D

or mad..but thats not me. No issues with cornering at the 105-120 on the clock, but it could of gone alot more as I was exiting no where near the spilt in surface..all in all it's possible to go far further, just whats the point with your road car...:D

School @ Anglsey is like that...not flat out, but bloody quick and very scary the first time you en trust your car to it for the fist time without braking off all your speed :D and very very rewarding as you begin to get it better and better :D

Same with all tracks and thats the hook for repeat business.

130mph through there.... did'nt see anyone try it faster when I was circulating... Sliding merrily using almost all the width... Approached the next right hander close to 140mph tho... anchors away!

What anchors ... ? :P

....copying my lines.....:P

I was doing approx 100-110 but in the afternoon after more and more laps I found I could easily do 115 + hit the apex just right! :D That was at full throttle with no lift off.

Hey I drive swiftly and I was a passenger in the Noble, trust me when I say 135mph on HIS clock would not have been broken by any of us. Don Palmer at the wheel was like the STIG doing his runs on Top Gear lol !

was going through in third with no lift...around 110-115

hit the rev limiter a couple of times which was interesting :D

then grab fourth for a couple of seconds b4 braking hard and stuffing it in to third for the right hander...........

oh what a day

Went in at 115, slight lift to lighten up the rear, then plant it again. Was doing 115 again on the exit, so must have been 110 through the corner. Great fun. That and the twisty section before the back straight were my favorite of the lot! :D
