Just went to B&Q in the hope of finding some grease, but the lady I asked looked at my as if I asked for a 'unicorn on a stick'. Local Maplins doesn't have any in stock.

I know I've got some at home somewhere, just can't remember where :o

I'm still skeptical mind

As long as the connector isn't opened up - it's lasted me about a year - this with very high temps. There was a post a while back that indicated that someone in the UK had to repeat it after about a year too...

Opening it up to fiddle with anything seems to require a top-up of grease....

That sorta points back to filling the connector full of grease as the best strategy - and the Maplin's tube is pretty big.....

Cheers Basil

Just got the last tube in the Sheffield Maplins... ;-) ... will play tonight

I used this and thought it to be great, spent £2.99 on it and had enough to do 2 lots, and if it dont need doing again for another year then that aint bad going!

Did this last night and whilst I'm not convinced yet of the benefits the car does seem smoother - though this could just be a placebo effect

Well I've noticed the diffrence and the car feels smoother.

done this 2 our 2 cars today.

the leon u can hear the difference.

mine i can't.

will have to take it out a wee race l8r to check... :D

I didnt put as much grease on as in the pictures above. But used the same grease.

I just put a dollop in each connector.

Can deffo say it does feel smoother and less lumpy on cold starts.

Sorry, sorry, sorry! I know this thread is ollllllddddd!.. but,

I don't get it, I mean I understand that a better connection improves the signal thus improving how the engine can respond... what I don't get is the following!

Dielectric means it's an insulator, surely smothering the connections with something that doesn't conduct is going to make a WORSE connection?

Can someone explain why I'm wrong please, because I must be going by the feedback????

The contacts cut through the grease (they are sprung), therefore they make contact as before, HOWEVER the dielectric grease stops moisture (and even damp air) from affecting the contacts and properties of the sensor. If the contacts get damp, the sensor will give false readings (it is very sensitive).

I did it on mine and the idle is smoother (but no more power that I can feel). Worth doing for the small outlay.

i wasnt sure how this could work either, but i may give it a go

I have had great results with it on 2 diesels so far, I need to do it on the Superb as it needs a couple of cranks on startup. The Roomster and Slug fired instantly after the cage mod and the vroomster in particular was quieter on tickover

Ive found the page on Maplins website for de-electric grease but cant see anything in a tube!!...Anybody have a pic of the stuff or an order number?

Cheers

Will this work on a petrol turbo car also?

I think the rule of thumb is, if ya got a MAF, it'll help in some way.

If you've got a Diesel this is really worth while, And as for petrol's, I can't see this hurting in any way, Same principal.

Nothing ventured:thumbup:

I might give it a go then!

Will silicone grease such as Molykote-111 work just as well? Ive got loads of that.

any hints on unclipping it????
