It doesn’t look like that now, in fact it looks a bit poo. Not been washed for 5 days (the car) and has nearly 1,800 miles on the clock. Hopefully if I can shift this cold I seem to have picked up, I will get Pogle washed on Tuesday, when I am back oop in the North East.:)

I like that - very understated compared to the ones I've seen which have oversize wheels and funny spoilers and skirts

Chris

The big discounts seem to have disappeared on drivethedeal for the 123d :(

You’re right, very odd. I think it’s because BMW are restructuring their dealer margins in the New Year. I’m told the dealers will have 10% to play with instead of 14%. One of the salesmen reckoned BMW was trying to shore it’s residuals up a bit and try to control the heavy discounting that Internet traders are doing. Might be good for my residuals, but I reckon you will see big discounts again once the New Year is over and the dealers know what the new quarter’s margins are.

This is very interesting and had read it elsewhere. It seems that BMW is upset by dealers selling to private owners and via brokers at near fleet prices. This is affecting residuals which would harm PCP prices which could lead to a big drop in sales. Lots of ifs, buts and maybes in there . Interesting to see how it plays out.

Reckon it won’t harm me and should help my cause if anything. Think I slipped under the wire:).

Got a question for you regarding a PCP offer I have received on a BMW 123d M Sport since my last post.

The 123d M sport has no options.

List price = £25,695 - but they offer it to me for £23,218

Deposit is £0

Early termination fee = 695

Offer to purchase fee = £89.25

Arrangement fee = £1250

Total Loan = £25,252.25

Total interest @8.14% (APR = 8.3%) £4,429.79

Loan + Interest = £29,682.24

Residual Value = £9985.5

Loan Repayment = £547.13pcm

Maintence Contract = £46.86pcm

Total = £593.99

Also note that insurance & VED & Ins excess & 6 Valets a year are included

This is based upon a 36month contract @12k a year.

Hah nice figures there Welshy , that would give me £214 per month left over to live on!!! ;)

Has she put me on iggy??? Just checking to see if she knows if its a good deal or not?

PCP's your paying for the interest on the GFV it is certainly the most expensive way to buy a car as after the term you still dont own the car you may have a little equity in the car but thats forcing you to buy another when noone needs to change cars unless they are unreliable/accident damaged or a change of circumstances i.e. kids/small garage etc.

How much?

Well Im awaiting the OP who has bought the 123d to provide her cost details for the 123d as a comparator but she has gone quiet ??

why should she? thats personal info.

why should she? thats personal info.

+1

But now I understand why I drive a "cooking car" - I like the way the deal gives you a £2.4K discount and then loads it back up with £2K in fees .

Out of (non-personal) interest, is this quote direct from BMW or from one of those leasing/PCP companies?

Perhaps she thinks that's none of your business?

Perhaps she thinks that's none of your business?

Its not the same as disclosing your P60 its purely as a comparator - she did mention that she sold them in bucket loads when she was a dealer therefore she should be able/willing to help others.

If she does think that please let her state so herself there is no need for any hand holding or +1ing its her choice to disclose

Or is simply busy with other things... :)

Like driving her new toy :D

If you look back she said she got about 5k off list i think.

I don't expect her to give an exact price and having given an idea of the achievable discount i think that is plenty of info.

Just checking to see if she knows if its a good deal or not?

But surely a good deal comes down to what you can afford/want to spend. £600 a month on a car that you won't have any ownership over at the end of 3 years doesn't seem a great deal to me, but if I was earning more, then maybe I would think differently....

Round £'00 and round £k are fine and exact % APR, its not the discount I want to know but the PCP monthly amount and the balloon payment.

That is the only way to know if it is better/worse/equal to the spec I have put up - if she purely states its better than thats hardly any use either hasd to be #'s.

Not at all a good deal is a good deal, i.e. crate of 24 stella for £8.99 is a good deal no matter if you are a millionaire or living on the streets.

The OP (Female) who has bought the 123d SE With lots of extras is on a PCP and as a comparator th only way to clearly compare one against the other is with another PCP deal. I know the spec of my one is sparse compared to hers but mine is on a 123d M Sport so it might balance it out/ball park.
